Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Construction Specialist to join our team!
What You’ll Be Doing:Supervise day-to-day runway construction activities including excavation, subgrade preparation, base and sub-base layers, asphalt and/or concrete paving.Ensure that all works are executed in line with approved construction drawings, Method Statements, and ITPs.Monitor and inspect work zones for adherence to project specifications, ensuring correct materials, techniques, and safety practices.Interface with site teams, subcontractors, and consultants to address technical queries, resolve issues, and ensure construction progress.Attend coordination and progress meetings and report on runway activity status, challenges, and upcoming milestones.Support construction planning by reviewing schedules, manpower distribution, and equipment deployment.Work closely with QA/QC and HSE teams to ensure compliance with project quality and safety standards.Conduct joint inspections with consultants and client representatives; ensure timely closure of any NCRs or punch list items.Verify test results (e.g., compaction, FWD, smoothness, thickness) and escalate any deviations.Provide technical input during the execution of complex runway components such as grooving, joint sealing, and marking.Maintain accurate daily reports, construction logs, progress photographs, and quality records.Support the preparation of as-built drawings and handover documents related to runway works.What Required Skills You’ll Bring:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.Minimum 8 years of experience in civil construction, with a focus on airside works, particularly runways, taxiways, or aprons.Demonstrated experience in supervising large-scale paving operations and substructure works.Deep understanding of civil construction methods, material specifications, and airside infrastructure standards.Knowledge of ICAO, FAA, and local aviation regulations related to runway design and construction.Familiarity with construction equipment, logistics, and site controls.Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and construction monitoring tools.Strong communication, leadership, and site coordination skills.Experience with both flexible (asphalt) and rigid (concrete) runway construction.Knowledge of airfield lighting and drainage coordination.Familiarity with digital site reporting tools or construction management systems (e.g., Primavera, Procore).Ability to proactively solve field challenges and coordinate across multiple disciplines.Experience with commissioning and airside operational readiness procedures.Parsons equally employs representation at all job levels no matter the race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age, disability or genetic information.We truly invest and care about our employee’s wellbeing and provide endless growth opportunities as the sky is the limit, so aim for the stars!
