Job Description
As a Senior Component Engineer, reporting to the Manager, Component Engineering, you will focus on tariff mitigation, productivity improvements, and implementing changes in our diverse products. This is a development-heavy role, requiring you to explore design patterns, rationalize and challenge product requirements, evaluate the diversity of qualification efforts required for a product and propose solutions as a technical expert. This is a great "broad" role, heavy in professional development that will leverage your design experience and allow you to apply it across a variety of products and business units across Rockwell. This will also create opportunities for individuals to work across technical leaders (BU architects and SMEs) and Sr leadership in ISC and BU units to gain alignment as they challenge norms and create value.
This is a hybrid position based out either our Mayfield Heights, OH or Milwaukee, WI locations.
Your Responsibilities:This person would look at the variety of use cases within a commodity, and rationalize:Could we segment and drive productivity or supply diversity if we increased the number of variations?Do applications really require different but similar solutions, or could they be combined? Is one set of product requirements creating cost and complexity for every other product in the portfolio? Is there a better way to segment cost? How do volume and product lifecycle affect our decisions? Are we dealing with a legacy issue or an emerging issue? Are there technology disruptors coming to the market that we should be considering? Can we clarify the parameters that fundamentally drive cost so engineers can make better component selections? Can we clarify the parameters that drive suitability to drop into designs with limited or no testing required? Can we reduce time to change by simplifying qualifications across a narrow subset of product use cases, reducing efforts in changing components across the enterprise. Normally, this is distributed and handled individually. In a commodity-by-commodity cycle, we would see a cycle of analysis, design iteration, proposal, and then execution occur. This person will also affect the sequencing and prioritization of work we identify, and will be responsible for assigning actions and investigations to other engineers in the business unit. The Essentials - You Will Have:Bachelor's degree in relevant field.Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening. The ability to travel up to 20% of the time. The Preferred - You Might Also Have:8+ years of relevant experienceExperience in Electrical Engineering, Component Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or Mechanical EngineeringProject management experienceCMP or PMP certificationLean Six Sigma training/certificationWhat We Offer:Health Insurance including Medical, Dental and Vision401kPaid Time offParental and Caregiver LeaveFlexible Work Schedule where you will work with your manager to enjoy a work schedule that can be flexible with your personal life.To learn more about our benefits package, please visit at www.raquickfind.com.At Rockwell Automation we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.
