The primary function of this role is to provide subject matter expertise, analysis and consultation to the design and application of our various compensation programs; this includes base pay design, sales incentive programs, job evaluation as well as our short and long-term incentive plans. This role works closely with our HR Business Partners towards the ultimate goal of delivering an exceptional employee experience, the cornerstone of our existence as a function within Meridian.
We are looking for someone with strong attention to details and experience of developing and administering incentive plans and conducting Job Evaluations. Excellent oral and written communication skills also required to interface cross functionally in a team environment with various levels of management. Experience of Sales Incentive Management system including implementation and administration is preferred.
The successful incumbent will be required to:
Provide insight and effectiveness analysis to all compensation programs and schemes Function as subject matter expert on compensation consultations and application Conduct external market benchmarking and assessment to ensure we are program and offer competitiveness Provide administration support for sales incentive plans via Commission Management Tool Provide program recommendations based on best practices Lead the design and implementation of sales incentive plan reviews Relevant communication and engagement with People & Culture Team Participate in Job Evaluation analysis and evaluation reviews Conduct analytics and provide business intelligence around key compensation metrics
Key Responsibilities
Act as a trusted advisor to provide coaching and direction in a timely manner to HRBPs and business clients on high priority compensation decisions, exceptions, and escalations. This may involve the assessment of internal compensation equity and/or external market competitiveness to provide recommendations on closing critical gaps. Responsible for design, implementation, communication and administration of Sales Incentive plan, policies, and procedures to incentives behaviors to achieve business objectives. Ensure pay equity compliance is monitored and maintained. Participate in the job evaluation process to determine proper job grades, ensure relative value for all jobs is maintained and complete job audits as appropriate. Monitor and provide recommendations which ensure internal equity and market competitiveness for all Meridian jobs. Support new hire, promotional and out of cycle compensation decision making by providing market data analysis and rationale for required recommendations. Perform market and internal analyses to benchmark salaries in support of salary range development and maintenance. Develop project and program communication plans for leadership and employees. Analyze the market competitiveness of compensation programs and perform complex research, analysis, and delivery of findings to HRBP and business leaders. Support the participation, collection, management, and communication of enterprise-wide compensation programs including submission of compensation benchmark surveys, market review analysis and Year-End merit increase programs. Complete ad-hoc projects, including researching and analyzing data, organizing the data into meaningful documentation and presentation material, drawing sound conclusions, and making appropriate recommendations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
University degree and 5+ years of relevant Compensation experience. Hands-on experience in design, creation, and management of sales incentives. Experience with Compensation surveys. Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and financial modeling skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy. Strong initiative, intellectual curiosity, analytical capabilities, and willingness to take ownership of complex problems. A proficiency and ability to work with Microsoft Office (in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel) and HRIS. Ability to work in a fast paced and collaborative environment with a high degree of change and ambiguity. Strong business, commercial and financial acumen, and understanding of how compensation issues may impact other company departments. Ability to establish productive and positive relationships with all levels of management, incorporating different perspectives, backgrounds, and styles. Exceptional organizational and time management skills, can manage competing projects and adherence to tight deadlines effectively. Collaborative team player with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to make clear and cogent presentations to all levels of management. Strong commitment to excellence and is customer service oriented. Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills required, with comfort manipulating large data sets. Completion or progress toward CCP or CHRP designation preferred. Knowledge of Sales Incentive Management system preferred.
Salary Range: CAD $85,000 to $103,200 annually.
Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role’s requirements may be placed higher within the range. Your recruiter will share more information about our total rewards package during the hiring process.
Office Location: 3330 Bloor Street West, Toronto OR 75 Corporate Park Drive, St. Catharines. This is a hybrid work opportunity.
