Our client, a leading super major in the oil and gas sector are recruiting for a Senior Community Investment Advisor to join their team in Mozambique. This is a strategic leadership role, where you will plan, develop & implement community investment strategies, and have a hands on involvement in executing programs that foster long-term socioeconomic development in Mozambique. Bringing international experience, you will mentor, train and develop the national team.

Role Overview

Lead development of strategic frameworks for annual and long-term Community Investment plans. Direct stakeholder engagement at senior levels to co-create investment priorities, particularly with private sector organisations (EPC Contractors, etc.) Provide executive oversight for implementation of Community Investment projects, ensuring safety and compliance. Approve project scopes, budgets, and timelines; manage escalations and strategic changes. Drive adoption of standardized processes and digital tools for performance tracking. Oversee vendor and partner performance, ensuring contractual compliance and value delivery. Review Contractor Community Investment proposals and monitor Contractor programs. Develop and monitor KPIs related to Community Investment; design corrective action plans as needed. Establish governance mechanisms for risk management, including corruption prevention and human rights considerations. Represent the company in high-level forums and policy dialogues to position it as a leader in sustainable development. Prepare executive-level reports and presentations for internal leadership and external stakeholders. Participate in execution of Local Content tasks for Supplier Development, Workforce Development, and Strategic Community Investment. Develop high-quality presentations with appropriate narrative and messaging for diverse stakeholders. Evaluate Project Socioeconomic risks and design community investment mitigations. Mentor and develop junior advisors and project teams.

Skills & Qualifications

Risk Hazard & Policy Communication: Expertise in risk management and policy advocacy. Logic Narrative: Ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences. Public Address: Strong public speaking skills for high-level engagements. Leadership: Proven ability to shape strategy and influence policy at national or regional levels. Stakeholder Management: Strong skills in managing relationships in multi-cultural environments. Community Investment Knowledge: Experience with large-scale oil & gas projects and EPC contractors' community investment programs. Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Mozambique’s socioeconomic landscape and regulatory environment. Impact Measurement: Expertise in program governance, risk management, and impact measurement.

Education & Experience

Advanced degree in Law, Business, Socioeconomics, International Development, or related field. 15+ years of international experience in community investment or corporate sustainability, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Strategy development, as well as hands on experience of implementing social projects from start to finish. Mega project experience. Proficient in English; foundational knowledge of Portuguese is advantageous.
