Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a passionate Senior Community Engagement and Communication Advisor to ensure tremendous outcomes from work we do with our clients and key stakeholder organizations in the community. This is a permanent full-time position that is based in our Mississauga office. As part of the Environment Business Line on the Community Engagement and Communications Team, you'll be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our service offering on large projects and programs through your work with a close-knit team of program managers, engineering specialists, delivery professionals, and technical staff.
Working collaboratively with our client and specialist teams, you will be accountable for leading engagement and communications for a significant infrastructure program.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Collaborating with the Program Delivery team to create and execute tailored stakeholder management and external communication strategies and support the team in growing stakeholder relationships with area agencies.Leading public and stakeholder engagement activities and tactics, including in—person and virtual workshops, advisory committees, community meetings and public open houses;Creating and reviewing communication materials including key messages, FAQs, presentations, notices, story boards and discussion guidesSupervising and directing multiple community ambassadors to maintain a consistent and effective approach across projects;Working closely with Program Leads to ensure clear communication and coordination of resource requirements;Evaluating the effectiveness of communication and engagement plans and ensuring comprehensive program-level reporting, including preparing management and executive reports; and,Providing coaching, mentoring and support for the professional development of staff.QualificationsMinimum Requirements
A degree or professional designation is preferred (such as communication, environmental planning), although proven practical experience is essential6+ years working in a similar role in the public or private sectorsPreferred Qualifications:
15+ years professional writing experience including: plain language, AODA, web-content, internal and external communicationsStrong analytical, planning, organizational, problem solving and time management skillsExcellent interpersonal communication skills; this role requires continuous interaction with team leaders, client management and the publicExperience with government relations, media relations, public relations, stakeholder analysis and facilitation Strong knowledge of project coordination/ management concepts and processesMembership in or accreditation from IAP2, CPRS, IABC, IAF is an assetAbility to work flexible hours, including evenings and remotely if requiredKnowledge of the Canadian regulatory and policy context, Federal and Provincial Impact Assessment processes - including leading practice in communication and engagement and/ or Indigenous engagement and participationAdditional InformationSponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.Relocation is not available for this position.
