Senior Communications Specialist
Overview:

Serves as an individual contributor within the Communications department or area, possessing a broad knowledge base to support multiple business lines, markets, functions as needed. This role is responsible for executing communications programs related to the New England region.

Primary Responsibilities:

Demonstrates a clear understanding of the enterprise's needs, mission, vision and strategic direction and aligns communications to support these objectives.

Source and develop narratives that enhance the bank's reputation and align with enterprise goals, utilizing a deeper understanding of messaging strategies to engage varied audiences effectively.

Independently create, promote and amplify original content to a broader group of stakeholders leveraging all channels.

Participate in Content Crew Community of Practice - our enterprise approach to planning and telling stories / placing content across owned and 'earned' channels. Engage with cross-functional partners to take a collaborative approach to content planning, sourcing and sharing.

Cultivate and maintain relationships across the department and with key stakeholders to enhance cross-functional collaboration, allowing for the effective sharing of insights and resources that drive cohesive communication strategies.

May contribute to content creation while assisting in overall content production efforts including storyboard, shoot and edit videos using editing software).

May be deployed on a rolling and flexible basis to support evolving needs of bank / comms team.

Help bank local leaders and employees build their brand by authoring (or coordinating filming) messages to capture their voice in support of communications and business initiatives.

Support business line communications by working closly with senior management (those not included at the executive leadership table) to understand desired outcomes.

Ensure colleagues have the information they need to perform their jobs at the highest possible level. Work closely with HR to help tell the stories around important organizational changes.

Support crisis communication efforts at business line level; support ad hoc, high intensity comms needs from around the organization.

Support the development of company-owned business line channels strategically deploying content in an organized fashion to reach stakeholders.

Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Promote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Complete other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree

3 years of marketing or communications experience (Or in Lieu of a degree, a combination of 7 years of higher education and relevant experience)

Has demonstrated strong working relationships with internal and external partners

Ability to research, evaluate and recommend changes to initiatives or projects

Technical Expert and/or independent judgement

Travel required within region

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $83,503.69 - $139,172.82 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
