What we are recruiting for:
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Commercial Manager (Commercial Lead) for major MOD project in the Gloucester region.
Roles & responsibilities:
Procurement of the project in accordance with approved strategy, ensuring that orders are fully scoped, bought at best value and are correctly contracted in accordance with limits of authorityLiaising and communicating with the Client team in accordance with the ContractConverting the Project to an NEC4 Option A Contract for ConstructionProcurement and preparing contracts for execution for Early Works and Surveys, in line with limits of authority.Managing supply chain relationships to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to procurementRobust implementation and management of commercial, legal, insurance and risk controls of the Project (including but not limited to OLi and PMTR/PID’s)Accurate commercial reporting and contract administration. This includes (but is not limited to) interim payments, management of change accounts, cashflows, final accounting and contract administrationYou will ensure that the project is delivered in a safe, timely, efficient and sustainable manner, whilst achieving project targets, meeting client expectations and enhancing the reputation of the businessProcurement of work packages in line with the Project Procurement StrategyConversion of the project from preconstruction to constructionCommunicating and liaising with the Client team in accordance with the contractAdministration of the NEC4 ContractsProduction of Tender Recommendation Reports and Contract Sum AnalysisPreparation of Subcontracts for execution in line with limits of authorityUnderstand and apply commercial & financial procedures and reporting systemsMaintains detailed prelim forecasts and actual costs and intervenes were negative trends identifiedManagement of bonds, PCGs, warranty insurances and associated risksManagement of cost, value and profitReports accurately to the monthly forecast final accountProcures robust packages with an understanding of package interfacesManages cash flow to the benefit of the project and businessSupports the project manager to manage project risk and opportunitiesManages the change process in accordance with the contractDemonstrates skills in the avoidance and defence of claimsPrepares bid documentation to ensure a fully defined tenderExperience & background:
Degree in Quantity Surveying or other construction related degreeHolds or working towards RICS or CIOBExperience working for a reputable main contractor as a commercial manager or quantity surveyorTendering subcontract works packages of medium to high valueAble to prepare subcontract documentation ready for engrossment by external partiesAdvanced word-processing, Excel spreadsheet packages and fully conversant with BIWGood understanding of building technology / construction methodsAbility to read drawings and construction design informationValuing interim applicationsAgreeing site variationsPreparation of internal monthly cost reports / cost to complete forecastsMeasurement and valuation techniquesNEC4 Contract experience and knowledgePlease note that due to the nature of this role, national security vetting procedures apply, and a full UK security check will be carried out for the successful candidate.
