Overview

This role sits within the Buildings & Places Business Unit of AtkinsRéalis, offering diverse services to its clients. We require a driven and experienced Senior Commercial Manager with a strong background in design/engineering consultancy, able to ‘hit the ground running’ and support B&P’s ambitious plan.

Joining the current commercial team, the successful applicant will support the team with a wide-range of commercial tasks from reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of complex agreements with both clients and suppliers, You will also be responsible for leading the commercial governance process for bids that fall within your remit to ensure they align to AtkinsRéalis approvals framework.

Your role

Be an active member of the B&P Commercial team, providing commercial and governance support and advice to colleagues at all stages of the project life cycle.Contribute to decision making and identifying business improvement opportunities; and contributing to the development of an enhanced commercial culture within design and technical teamsHelp shaping strategies for major opportunities – Actively contribute to the development and implementation of strategies that position the business to secure and deliver major opportunities successfully.Involvement in risk management – Play a key role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business objectives.Support to an ongoing push to improve commercial performance in the BU – Provide insight, guidance, and practical support to initiatives aimed at enhancing commercial performance within the Business Unit.Undertake a commercial review of Appointments/Frameworks/Call off /task order opportunitiesInput into the business risk and opportunities register on a regular basis with particular focus on design-related claims and technical disputesEnsure that contract and project reviews are undertaken following the businesses policies and procedures.Provide support to design teams working closely with the legal team where required.Participate in the raising the commercial awareness and performance within the business.Assist with Pre-Contract Activities including:-head contracts are tracked from receipt of a service request through to contract award,submission of service proposals have passed through the business governance process,Provide Contractual Support to the project teams to ensurecompliance with contractual obligations,minimised risk exposure, andpreservation of contractual entitlements.

About you


Essential criteria:

Proven ability and track record in the majority of the following:

Strong understanding of design processes and technical deliveryExperience working in multidisciplinary design teamsAbility to interpret technical scopes and specifications from a commercial perspectiveProject management, organisational and investigative skills; Ability to simplify complex concepts.Solutions focused approach to ensure quick and positive outcomes during tendering events or contract discussions.Commercial management and governancePro-active engagement in risk identification, evaluation and mitigation activity.Proven capability of working in a collaborative environment with a strong teamwork ethos.Strong drive with sound judgement. Quickly establishes credibility and sphere of influence.Drafting of contractual correspondence.

What we are looking for you to demonstrate:

Preferably experience within a similar role in design consultancy.Knowledge of internal governance processes.A working knowledge standard forms of contract particularly NEC.Good Commercial awareness in technical environments.Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment.Excellent communication skills.

 Desirable criteria:

Background in engineering consultancy or design-led project environmentsGood grasp of contract lawKnowledge of contractual documents including NDAs, MOUs, teaming agreements, sub- and head contracts used in a consulting environment

Security clearance

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.  If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
