**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The **Senior Coder** will monitor and audit medical record documentation, coding and quality measures in the practice offices. You will utilize your knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT, and documentation guidelines, along with clinical skills and practice management knowledge to assist in any and all coding and documentation audits and/or billing functions as determined by the Operations, and/or Quality department(s) while ensuring that all quality measures are completed annually for the patient populations for both Managed Care and Medicare.
+ Use only pre-approved source documents as validation for recommendations
+ Queries providers on specificity of coding answering any questions and clarifies all
· Train physicians, physician assistants and employees for MRA coding opportunities
· Ensure that codes assigned meet medical necessity requirements by Medicare and other carriers
+ Create and assist with the maintenance of Chronic Condition Lists for all PCPs
+ Assist with working the missing condition reports from all carriers
+ Assist with all quality measures initiatives, working with the PCP offices in capturing the data to support the variables.
· Maintain a database with the results of all medical chart reviews performed
+ Assist with the analysis and action planning in response to findings of the utilization practices in the office
+ Assist in the care coordination duties in specific patient populations and work with Case Management to procure services for those identified patients
+ Assist in teaching any office staff and/or providers in proper documentation and coding guidelines and help develop physician coding education
+ Help organize coding team and assure smooth functioning
+ Assist team members directly with complex cases if barriers identified
+ In collaboration with the Director of Operations develop processes and procedures as needed for new projects
+ Assist in defining and managing project resource needs and establishing contingency plans for key resources
+ Initiate improvements to enhance the efficiency and the quality of the work performed on assigned projects
+ Review reports and track ongoing issues
**What qualifications you will need:**
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Minimum of 2 years coding experience
· Experience with the MRA reimbursement structure is required
· The American Academy of professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification
· Knowledge of CMS coding guidelines
· Exceptional interpersonal, public speaking and presentation skills
· Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
