Senior Clinical Speech Language Pathologist

Speech-Language Pathologists (also known as speech therapists or speech pathologists) within the Head and Neck Department of the Integrated Surgical Institute provide highly sophisticated speech-language pathology care and treatment to children and adults. Our speech-language pathologists diagnose and treat communication limitations (speech, language, voice, cognition) and swallowing disorders in children and adults, including patients with conditions of the head and neck (head and neck cancer and airway issues) and neurological diseases (stroke, Parkinson's, ALS). **A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM - 12:00PM or 9:00AM - 1:00PM.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform diagnostic speech pathology test procedures and evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients. + Interpret and report test results to facilitate medical diagnosis. + Provide counseling and education about communication and diagnosis to patients and their families. + Determine therapeutic plan (e.g., need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention, prognosis and duration of therapy). + Select assistive speech devices to improve patient's communication. + Perform re-evaluation to determine progress. + Provide observations about hearing and other behavior to help determine the need of other services. + Maintain records of all services. + Communicate results and recommendations for improving communicative function to referral sources and outside agencies. + Provide clinical supervision of other clinical and technical staff. + Maintain supervisory records. + Perform clinical teaching of residents, medical students and others. + Prepare and deliver lectures and in-service presentations to the department and other areas. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology + Speech-Language Pathology License (SP) from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology in the state of Ohio + Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) + Five years of post-Clinical Fellowship Year professional experience, two of which are at CCF + PH.D. in Speech Pathology/Science may substitute for CCF experience Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + SLP experience in a hospital setting + Experience with using EPIC ​ Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
