We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Draftsperson to join our Sustaining Capital Mining team, contributing to a major rail infrastructure renewal program. This long-term contract role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects involving upgrades and maintenance across a large-scale heavy haul rail network.
You will report directly to the Design Drafting Manager and collaborate with a skilled team of Civil Designers and Drafters. The team culture is supportive and engaging—with a daily coffee run to keep the energy high!
Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed civil drafting deliverables for rail infrastructure projects. Apply design principles related to earthworks, drainage, and heavy haul rail. Use Microstation (preferred) and other relevant drafting tools to produce high-quality drawings. Collaborate with engineers and project teams during feasibility and execution phases. Ensure drafting outputs meet project standards and timelines. Requirements Minimum 6 years of experience in civil drafting, ideally within rail, mining, or infrastructure sectors. Proficiency in Microstation is highly preferred. Strong understanding of heavy haul rail design principles, earthworks, and drainage design. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with stakeholders. High attention to detail and commitment to quality. Project OverviewThe rail network renewal program involves comprehensive upgrades and maintenance across a 1700km rail system. The scope includes fixed asset renewals, ballast cleaning, tamping, and minor track upgrades. The work is driven by rolling engineering campaigns and calendar year execution plans, with multidisciplinary support across engineering and site delivery teams.
