Job Description

We are seeking a results-driven Senior Buyer to lead the procurement of metal fabrication components and electronic assemblies supporting our custom welding positioners, robotic weld cells, and automation systems. This role is critical in ensuring on-time delivery, cost control, quality performance, and supply continuity aligned with our Factory of the Future strategy.

Responsibilities

Source, negotiate, and manage suppliers for structural steel, plate, tubing, and machined components.Oversee the procurement of precision fabricated weldments and machined assemblies.Manage the sourcing of motors, drives, gearboxes, and power transmission components.Handle procurement of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, cabling, and electrical panels.Ensure sourcing of automation and motion control components.

Essential Skills

5–10+ years of purchasing experience in manufacturing or capital equipment.Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes including laser cutting, machining, welding, and forming.Expertise in industrial electronics and automation components.Demonstrated experience in negotiation and supplier management.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.ERP experience with systems like M1, NetSuite, or similar.

Work Environment

The work environment is very team-oriented with a positive culture and great work-life balance. The dress code is casual, with jeans and t-shirts, and steel-toed shoes are required, for which a voucher is provided. The team enjoys a fun environment with low turnover, high growth potential, and regular team lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The small office structure, consisting of four team members, values personality fit and collaboration.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rock Island, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $45.67/hr.
