ResponsibilitiesAscension is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join our Data Delivery and Governance team. The successful candidate will be part of the Product Management team, incorporating agile development and operations methodologies and best practices through a repeatable agile approach to capabilities assessments and modeling systems in a cost-effective way. This includes exploring and documenting requirements, system characteristics, and capabilities to address reliability, maintainability, quality, supportability, interoperability, and both organizational and technical requirements.
The role will have a strong focus on Master Data Management (MDM) and Enterprise Data Integration across clinical, operational, and business systems.
Responsibilities
Obtain a deep understanding of relevant business area(s), business processes, and master data domains (e.g., Person, Provider, Location) to recommend solutions and build high-quality requirements.
Use a variety of techniques to elicit business and MDM-related requirements such as: interviews, workshops, surveys, site visits, and storyboards.
Partner with Data Governance, MDM Product Owners, and source system SMEs to define and document master data definitions, hierarchies, and stewardship rules.
Understand technical options, MDM architecture, data integration patterns (e.g., batch, real-time, API-based), data pipelines, limitations, costs, and risks, and their impact to the business upstream and downstream.
Collaborate with business and technical leads to successfully integrate data and business processes across systems, with a specific focus on enabling enterprise-wide data sharing and interoperability.
Define, analyze, design, document, and implement business and technical requirements including MDM and data integration workflows, process and data flows, data mappings, documentation/diagrams, and requirements traceability.
Create artifacts as appropriate, such as: business cases, use cases, MDM domain models, scope documents, data dictionaries, process flows, and test scenarios.
Conduct data profiling and data quality assessments to evaluate master data and ensure alignment with data governance standards.
Support operational oversight of technical requirements development & testing, including MDM matching rules, survivorship logic, integration points, and error handling.
Triage and resolve issues related to master data mismatches, data quality defects, and integration failures.
Utilize data analysis tools and MDM platforms to gather insights, identify trends, and recommend process or system enhancements.
Manage requirement changes throughout the delivery lifecycle for MDM and data integration features.
Requirements
Education:
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.Additional Preferences Strong business analysis, requirement elicitation, and documentation skills.Proven experience working with Master Data Management platforms or initiatives (e.g., Provider MDM, Person MDM, Customer MDM, etc.).Experience in enterprise Data Integration (ETL/ELT, APIs, FHIR, HL7, data pipelines) across diverse source and consumer systems.Knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodologies, User stories, and acceptance criteria.Familiarity with data governance, data quality metrics, and stewardship processes.Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Agile tools is preferred.Excellent knowledge of the Healthcare industry, including clinical and operational data domains.Experience managing projects with significant operating budgets and knowledge of process redesign is strongly preferred.Current experience writing agile artifacts and UAT templates strongly preferred.Ability to prioritize work, assess risks, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
