The Senior Business Operations Manager supporting University Athletics will provide management and advanced level coordination of the Athletics Business office. Comprehensive oversight of the Athletic department budget using analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting across multiple funding sources. Provide leadership and daily oversight of the Athletics Business Office staff. This position will forecast and manage budgets for University Athletics including unrestricted, temporarily restricted, discretionary funds and endowment accounts. Work directly with coaches and other sports administrators who develop and manage functional area budgets and expenses. Approve purchases, contracts, stipends, travel expenses and payments. Review revenue accounts. Monitor financial performance and recommend corrective measures as needed. Coordinate the development of financial forecasts, long-term financial plans, and business plans aimed at furthering strategic goals. Develop financial models and assist with strategic budget planning. Collaborate with Athletic and Business and Finance leadership to develop and execute strategic plans and evaluate options to ensure alignment. Provide data, analysis, and regular and ad hoc reports for university leadership to support planning and data needs.1 - Oversees, monitors, and administers the financial operations, activities, and budget of the University Athletics Business Office. Conducts comprehensive financial analysis to ensure efficient utilization of resources. Ensures fiduciary, operational, and transactional compliance and accuracy. Collaborate with University Athletics and Business and Finance leadership on annual budget development and completion of required reporting at the state and national levels. Reviews analysis of activities, costs, operations, and forecasts data providing feedback on department progress toward stated goals and objectives.
2 - Facilitate the interpretation and execution of applicable policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations for an NCAA Athletic department. Provides training and support on policies and procedures to leaders and staff including coaches and other Athletic department employees. Supervise Athletic Business Office staff and provide training, mentoring, hiring, and performance management as needed.
3 - Continuously reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecasts data to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives. Develop, implement, and facilitate internal financial policies, procedures, and controls that meet the goals and objectives of the Athletic department.
4 - Acts in an advisory capacity to University Athletics and Business and Finance leadership on business and financial matters.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in business, accounting, finance, or related fields.
Required Experience
Three or more years of demonstrated success in budget, finance, or related field. Experience managing full-time, part-time, and/or student staff. Proficient in database, accounting, Microsoft Office, and related software systems.
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in business, finance, business administration, sports management or related fields.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience managing complex division or operational budgets in higher education. Managing and leading staff of two or more employees. Previous financial experience in college athletics environment, including team travel, equipment, operating, recruiting, and foundation budgets. Previous experience providing analysis, forecasting, and reporting to senior-level leadership.
