Job Description

Allied Universal® is hiring a Senior Benefits Specialist. The Senior Benefits Specialist provides support for Health & Welfare benefit programs, including vendor management, project management, communications, and providing day-to-day support. This position will handle vendor management in order to provide high-quality, effective, and compliant benefit programs, administration, and service for all participants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with benefits administration of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and flexible spending plans on a daily basisServe as subject matter expert and a point of contact in answering questions, including complex, escalated matters from benefit and human resources colleagues regarding employee’s benefits with high level of service support to our colleaguesPerform quality checks and audits to ensure accurate benefits data and compliance adherence; support compliance testing and annual auditInvestigate and resolve matters of significance including complex and unusual issues brought forth by management or colleaguesServe as a liaison between colleagues and carriers, handing or facilitating requests for contribution adjustments, refunds, or other administrative changesAct as liaison for all insurance carriers and third-party administrators for employee eligibility, claim and plan coverage inquiries, providing accurate and timely responses. Coordinates directly with third party administrators to research and resolve issuesLead the implementation, testing, and maintenance of new and existing carriers EDI files with internal and external teamsSupport automated and manual benefits processesAssist with annual open enrollment activities, including the timeliness of elections to carriersHelp maintain benefits website and share driveProvide customer service for all employees calling into the benefits hotline during open enrollment and other peak call timesAssist with the annual ACA reporting process from gathering data from third-party administrators, audits, research, and answer employees’ questionsDocument and maintain administrative procedures for all assigned benefit dutiesCustomer service, research and resolution with employee inquiries, carrier/file feed auditing, HRIS and Benefits systems maintenance/data entry of new enrollments and benefit changesMonitor and research weekly benefit deduction changes and updatesCoordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, qualifying life event changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, and National Support Orders, Employee and Wage verifications, maintain group benefits database and update employee recordsAssist with special projects assigned by management team

QUALIFICATIONS:  

High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED)Minimum of four (4) years of benefits administrative experience in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements affecting employee benefits programs, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, and DOL requirementsAbility to maintain sensitive information in a strictly confidential manner, exhibiting a high degree of ethics, professionalism and service orientation in all activities and all interactions with internal and external individualsMust be a proactive problem solver and team player, with an above-average attention to detail and accuracyHigh degree of flexibility and initiative, with the ability to effectively operate with limited supervisionAbility to support requests from multiple individuals, effectively prioritizing tasks in order to ensure all activities are accomplished within established deadlinesAdvanced proficiency in MS Office products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook), and Internet and website navigation; analytical and technical support in the delivery of benefit administrationProfessional, articulate, and able to use good independent judgment and discretionOutstanding verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization while functioning as a team playerWillingness to take direction and critical feedback, and adapt to improve skills and effectiveness with a positive attitudeMust be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilitiesMust be able to focus and multi-task in a busy environment, with the ability to successfully handle stressful situations in a calm and professional mannerMust be able to speak, read, and write the English language fluently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

College degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related fieldWorking knowledge of union and prevailing wage benefitsAbility to speak a secondary language

BENEFITS:

Hourly wage range: $22.00 - $27.00Medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, and disability insuranceEnrollment in our company’s 401 (k) or Supplemental Income Plan, subject to eligibility requirementsEight paid holidays annually, five sick days, and four personal dayVacation time offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly. Unused vacation is only paid out where required by law.
