Senior Benefits Specialist
Senior Benefits SpecialistOverview: We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented professional to oversee and enhance employee benefit programs. This role involves managing health and wellness offerings, coordinating with external partners, and leading the annual enrollment cycle. The position reports to the Manager of HR Systems, Operations, and Benefits. It begins with a 90-day onsite requirement, transitioning to a hybrid schedule twice per week thereafter. Key Responsibilities: + Administer various employee benefit plans, ensuring accurate records and adherence to regulatory standards. + Maintain and audit data within the internal HR system, and provide one-on-one support to employees regarding benefit options. + Offer guidance on eligibility and coverage, resolve employee inquiries, and ensure timely processing of payments and reconciliations. + Act as a point of contact between internal teams, external advisors, and service providers. + Lead wellness initiatives and contribute to the development of annual health engagement strategies. + Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including healthcare and tax-related reporting. + Collaborate with HR systems personnel to implement updates and troubleshoot benefit-related technical issues. + Manage life insurance claims and support beneficiaries throughout the process. + Oversee self-funded health and dental plans, ensuring proper financial management for claims and administrative costs. + Coordinate with vendors to resolve issues related to enrollment, billing, and data transmission. + Process benefit selections, monitor changes due to life events or employment status, and maintain accurate enrollment records. + Review and reconcile data feeds from carriers, including COBRA administration, and address discrepancies. + Create and distribute materials related to benefits, including enrollment guides and compliance documentation. + Participate in industry benchmarking and complete required professional development activities. + Maintain strong relationships with external partners and ensure alignment with internal risk and compliance protocols. Required Skills: + 5–7 years of progressive experience in benefits administration and program management. + Solid understanding of retirement and health-related plans. + Background in employee support, human resources, and benefits coordination. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. + Strong interpersonal skills for advising and educating employees. Preferred Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related discipline. + Professional certification in benefits or HR (preferred).
