Senior Backend Developer (Hybrid)

We're seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer to join our team working on a sophisticated financial services platform. You'll be working with a modern microservices architecture built on Node.js, managing multiple services in a Lerna monorepo environment.

This role requires deep technical expertise in TypeScript, distributed systems, and financial technology.


Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain microservices within our Lerna-managed monorepo (Express.js, NestJS)Architect scalable solutions for high-throughput financial data processingOptimize database performance across MySQL instances using both Prisma and Sequelize ORMsImplement robust message queue systems using AWS SQS and BullMQ/RedisLead code reviews and mentor junior developers on best practicesCollaborate on API design and maintain OpenAPI specificationsEnsure system reliability through comprehensive testing (Jest)Participate in CI/CD pipeline improvements using JenkinsDebug and optimize production issues across distributed services.


Qualifications:

5+ years of production Node.js experienceExpert-level TypeScript knowledge with strong understanding of type inference and advanced patternsDatabase expertise: MySQL optimization, query performance tuning, migration strategiesORM experience: Familiarity with both modern (Prisma) and legacy (Sequelize) ORMsMessage queuing: Production experience with SQS, Redis/BullMQ, or similarMonorepo management: Experience with Lerna, Yarn workspaces, or similar toolsTesting expertise: Unit, integration, and E2E testing strategiesDocker & containerization: Multi-stage builds, orchestration, optimization.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Yarn 4 and modern package management strategiesNestJS framework expertise with GraphQL and REST API developmentFinancial services or fintech backgroundExperience with AWS services (SQS, S3, LocalStack for local development)Familiarity with conventional commits and semantic versioningExperience migrating legacy codebases while maintaining production stabilityKnowledge of Redis for caching and job queue managementUnderstanding of Zero-Install strategies and workspace protocols.

Strong advocate for functional programming patterns and clean codeComfortable with rapid iteration in a fast-paced environmentExperience with gradual migration strategies (we're transitioning from Sequelize to Prisma)Ability to balance technical debt reduction with feature deliveryStrong debugging skills across distributed systemsCommitment to structured logging and monitoring best practicesUnderstanding of financial data security requirements


Required Experience Indicators
Candidates should be comfortable with:

Managing package dependencies across multiple servicesDebugging Node.js memory leaks and performance issuesImplementing graceful shutdown patterns for long-running processesDatabase transaction management across service boundariesImplementing idempotent message processingZero-downtime deployment strategies


Note: We use a comprehensive monorepo setup with specific conventions. Familiarity with our techstack will accelerate onboarding, but we value strong fundamentals and learning ability equally.

Compensation Range: The salary range for this position is between $90,000.00 - $95,000.00. Broadridge considers various factors when evaluating a candidate's final salary including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education.
