Job Description
The Sr. Avionics Engineer is responsible for the engineering data, instructions, documents, and technical support that, within budgetary and regulatory constraints, ensure the safety, airworthiness, and reliability of Company aircraft within the following ATA chapter subjects: Auto Flight, Communications, Electrical Power, Instruments, Lights, Navigation, Central Maintenance Systems (CMS), Inert Gas System (IGS), Engine Indicating (22, 23, 24, 31, 33, 34, 45, 46, 47, 77).
Provide guidance on issues in safety, airworthiness, and reliability of aircraft.
Create instructions (Engineering Orders) and other technical documents to economically support operations and return aircraft to service in a safe and timely manner.
Evaluate Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRMs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Service Letters (SLs), and other notifications of in-service issues.
Seek out and analyze trending data to develop product improvement modifications as directed by Reliability engineers.
Work with maintenance team(s), creating Action Plans to isolate, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft anomalies in the respective ATAs during AOG events. Includes support of chronic and repeat items.
Update technical source documents as applicable to insure accuracy (AMMs, WDMs, FIMs, etc.)
Support integration and phase-in of new and previously operated aircraft to meet company requirements.
Liaise with manufacturers; maintenance representatives, repair & overhaul (MRO) facilities, and internal/external engineering departments.
Participate in industry working groups, industry steering committees, and conferences.
Review and extract information from the work of consultants, contractors, and MRO avionics engineers relating to safety, airworthiness, and reliability of aircraft.
Work with OEMs to minimize the economic impact to the airline.
Create documentation for system modifications and repairs to initiate maintenance program changes.
Establish component repair and build specifications to enhance dispatch reliability in accordance with budgetary and regulatory requirements.

Skills and Requirements
12+ years' experience working in Airline, Aviation, Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO), and/or Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) industries.
7-9 years' experience in design or applied engineering.
FAA A&P License (Airframe & Powerplant) or FCC License (Federal Communications Commission)
Experience with various authoring and software tools specific to engineering reporting such as Inform (iDMR), Autodesk, Tableau, TRAX, MBF, or Adobe.
Technical knowledge of aircraft (transport category) avionic systems and components.
Ability to travel approximately 1 domestic trip per month. Bachelor's in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or related Engineering discipline.
