We are seeking a talented Senior Associate Scientist to join our innovative Ophthalmology Research team at Sanofi.

In this role, you will execute in vivo ocular studies, perform specialized molecular and histological analyses, and contribute to the development of innovative therapies for vision-threatening diseases. As part of our cutting-edge research efforts, you will work on preclinical studies that drive the development of novel ocular therapies from early discovery through IND-enabling stages. This position offers hands-on experience with state-of-the-art techniques in ocular research, with direct impact in ophthalmology drug development.

Main Responsibilities

Execute in vivo ocular studies in rodent models, including performing various ocular dosing procedures (intravitreal, intracameral, suprachoroidal, subretinal, topical, systemic)

Conduct molecular analyses including digital PCR, ELISA, and Western blotting on ocular tissues and fluids

Process ocular tissues and perform sophisticated histological techniques on sections and flat mounts, including immunohistochemistry with ocular markers

Operate and maintain automated platforms for molecular and histological assays, ensuring quality control and reproducibility

Perform ocular imaging techniques (OCT, fundus photography, ERG, IOP, OKR) to monitor disease progression and treatment effects

Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare technical reports for team review

Maintain detailed experimental records and contribute to documentation for regulatory submissions

Present findings at team meetings and contribute to scientific discussions

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance ophthalmology research programs

 

About You

Earned Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR Master’s Degree +1 year of relevant experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting.

Demonstrated experience with molecular biology techniques (dPCR, ELISA, Western blotting) and histological methods

Experience working with laboratory animals (rodents), animal handling, colony maintenance, dosing via different RoA, tissue collections.

Ability to independently execute complex protocols with precision and troubleshoot technical issues

Strong data analysis and visualization skills using relevant software (Excel, GraphPad, ImageJ)

Excellent documentation practices and attention to detail

Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present technical information clearly

Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment

Preferred Qualifications

Basic understanding of ocular anatomy, physiology, and pathology

Experience working with rodent ocular in vivo models

Experience in ocular drug delivery in rodents and collection of ocular tissues via dissection.

Experience in the assessment of ocular phenotypes ERG, OCT, OKR, IOP, fundus imaging

Experience in immunohistochemistry, and basic imaging techniques

 

Skills and competencies

Ability to work in a highly collaborative and matrixed environment

Ability to learn new techniques, multi-task and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines

Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary team

The salary range for this position is:

$73,500.00 - $106,166.66
