Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Senior Associate Relations Manager is a key role of the ministry's strategy for positive associate relations. The Senior Associate Relations Manager is responsible for leading a team of Associate Relations Managers supporting various markets. This role will coach team members associate relations skills, focus on development of team members subject matter expertise and resolve issues at the lowest level possible. This role works directly with various leadership levels from front line leaders to higher level leadership up to executives to guide and support them in complex and high-risk associate relations decision making. Effective cross-functional partnership and collaboration, within HR and outside of HR, is required to drive resolutions that mitigate risk, encompass business needs, are comprehensive, address root cause and drive engagement.

Essential Job Functions

The Sr. Employee Relations Manager is responsible for handling a case load and effectively managing the review, resolution and documentation of code of conduct related matters and policy violations, including but not limited to, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace violence, unprofessional behavior and complex performance issues ensuring the right balance of risk mitigation, engagement and fairness is delivered throughout the case lifecycle. Risk assessment and case management is a critical component.Leads a team of Associate Relations Managers who manage the review, resolution and documentation of code of conduct related matters and policy violations, including but not limited to, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace violence, unprofessional behavior and complex performance issues ensuring the right balance of risk mitigation, engagement and fairness is delivered throughout the case lifecycle.Supports and guides the Associate Relations Manager in handling associate employment concerns, providing quality customer service by resolving inquiries, questions and cases in a consistent, accurate and timely manner.Provides strategic Associate Relations support, business partnership, thought partnership, and coaching to all levels of the ministry. Must be able to flex between presenting to senior leaders to communicating with frontline associates.Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills, enabling individual to establish partnerships working with senior leaders and across organizational lines.Demonstrates a change management mindset through identification of opportunities to enhance the employee experience through process and policy improvement and refinement of services; offer potential solutions to drive greater stakeholder satisfaction and simplification of workflow. Actively engages and owns change to drive successful execution.Effectively collaborates with multiple cross-functional partners/stakeholders (Legal, Risk, Compliance, Privacy, Quality) with differing points of view while maintaining confidentiality of complex and highly sensitive subject matter.Interprets and applies applicable labor and employment laws, regulations and standards at the federal and state level, in consultation with the legal department. Identifies risk and potential company liability in case fact patterns and uses sound judgment in obtaining legal counsel when warranted.Manages individual cases but able to see the root cause issues and develops proactive strategies to reduce undesirable outcomes and sustain positive environment.Handles complex and emotionally charged issues with composure by addressing the situation objectively, remaining unbiased.

7 years’ experience of independently conducting a thorough investigation (required)

7 years' experience in Employee and Labor Relations or related field (preferred)

3 years of related Human Resources experience (preferred)

3 years proven record of business management experience (preferred)
