The Senior Architect, Payments will lead the design and evolution of our enterprise payment systems architecture. This role is critical to driving our payment technology strategy, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance while delivering exceptional customer experiences. The successful candidate will architect solutions that handle payment processing, support multiple payment methods, and integrate with various financial institutions and payment networks.

A day in the life as a Senior Architect, Payments...

Lead architectural decisions and architect solutions for payment processing platforms, including real-time transaction processing, settlement, and intelligent routingDefine and implement microservices architecture patterns for payment systems with focus on scalability, resilience, and performanceEvaluate and recommend payment technology vendors, platforms, and third-party integrations Architect secure payment solutions, including fraud detection, tokenization, and encryptionDevelop architecture for multi-channel payment acceptance (online, mobile, in-store, call center, API)Design real-time payment monitoring, alerting, and reporting capabilitiesDesign APIs and integration patterns for payment service providers, banks, and internal enterprise financial systemsMentor development teams on payment domain knowledge and architectural principlesCollaborate with product managers, business analysts, and stakeholders on payment featuresWork with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies for payment systems

What you’ll bring to the table…

Deep understanding of the payment ecosystem, including major payment networks (Visa, Mastercard, etc.), acquirers, processors, and regulatory bodiesExpertise in various payment methods (cards, digital wallets, BNPL, etc.) and the platforms (Adyen, PayPal, Klarna, etc.) that support themDeep understanding of payment industry standards (ISO 8583, ISO 20022, EMV, PCI DSS)Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and payment-specific servicesProficiency in microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and API designKnowledge of programming languages: .NET, python or similar enterprise languagesExperience with databases: SQL, NoSQL, and distributed data systemsUnderstanding of DevOps practices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CDExperience with payment security and operational strategies, including fraud detection, tokenization, 3DS authentication, and transaction strategies (authorization, capture, refundFamiliarity with emerging payment regulationsUnderstanding of settlement, reconciliation, disputes, chargebacks and financial reporting requirements

Minimum Starting Rate: $126,960.00 Annually

Up to: $158,700.00 Annually

Pay ranges will be adjusted upward as needed to comply with applicable state and local law. In addition to your salary, based on your role, associates may be eligible for other compensation including bonuses, sales incentives, and long term incentives.
