Compensation Range: $84,000 to $105,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

JOB SUMMARY: As a Senior Archaeologist/Project Director, this employee will coordinate and manage a variety of archaeology projects within the Western United States

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:

Serve as a Principal Investigator/Project Director for the project

Project Management

Conduct Class III (intensive pedestrian) cultural resources inventory

Independently document archaeological sites and IOs/IFs

Evaluate resources for NRHP-eligibility

Survey an average of 50 acres/8 miles per day and carry personal health and safety equipment (i.e., personal water, sunscreen, etc.) when surveying

Ability to work in moderate weather conditions (fluctuating temperatures and inclement weather, including rain and snow)

Ability to perform work duties independently and efficiently, while working in a team setting

Ability to follow instruction and to make adjustments when provided feedback

Proficient in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology in the Western United States

Proficient in documenting archaeological sites and IOs/IFs in the Western United States

Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene Environmental’ s culture of safety and employee ownership.

Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.

Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Completed coursework leading to a degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field:

Crew Member – minimum 2 years of college-level coursework and completion of a field school.

Crew Chief – bachelor’s degree, completion of a field school, and 3 year of professional experience.

Field Director / Project Archaeologist – bachelor’s degree, completion of a field school, 3 years of professional experience, and is permitted or qualified for agency permitting based on the SOI Professional Qualification Standards.

Principal Investigator – graduate degree, completion of a field school, 3 years professional experience as a Field Director, and is permitted or qualified for agency permitting based on the SOI Professional Qualification Standards.

Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Proficiency in using tablets (Apple iPad or Samsung Galaxy) to document cultural resources.

Proficiency with sub-meter GPS receiver.

Proficiency with ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 applications (for phone or tablet).

Permitted or permittable on BLM lands in the Western United States (Principal Investigator).

Previous NHPA, NEPA, CEQA, FERC, and/or other cultural or environmental trainings.

Strong writing and editing skills.

Authored a master’s degree thesis.
