Overview of role:

The Senior Distribution Strategy Analyst plays a critical role in shaping the airline’s multi-channel distribution strategy, with a focus on optimizing reach, cost, and commercial impact across traditional GDS, direct, and emerging NDC channels. This role blends deep commercial acumen, strong analytical capabilities, and industry awareness to deliver insights and recommendations that drive competitive advantage and align with broader retailing transformation goals.


Key deliverables include:

 

Analyze distribution performance across channels, partners, and markets to identify trends, gaps, and revenue opportunities that drive strategic decision-making. Support commercial planning by modeling channel economics, evaluating new business models (e.g., NDC incentives), and building executive-ready business cases for investment or change. Engage with external partners including aggregators, GDS providers, and agency platforms to monitor performance, align on capability roadmaps, and explore joint growth opportunities. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders—such as Sales, Revenue Management, IT, Finance, and Legal—to ensure strategic alignment and feasibility of distribution initiatives. Track industry developments (e.g., IATA NDC, GDS modernization, OTA innovation) and translate insights into recommendations that inform product prioritization and strategic positioning. Prepare and deliver high-impact presentations and briefing materials for senior leadership, including competitive insights, strategic updates, and partner recommendations. Support partner negotiations by providing data-driven input into commercial terms, capability readiness, and expected ROI from new or existing distribution relationships. Monitor and report on distribution KPIs, including channel shift, offer conversion, cost per booking, and content parity to ensure strategic objectives are being met. Partner with product and IT teams to inform NDC capability rollouts, prioritization of enhancements, and technical readiness assessments for key partners. Contribute to cross-industry engagement, including IATA working groups, distribution roundtables, or partner-led forums, to advocate for the airline’s interests and gain early insights into evolving standards.

 

Education and qualifications:

 

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Statistics, or Economics is preferred. Knowledge of Distribution Strategy, airline/travel vendors, and third-party distribution models. Experience with ATPCO, GDS platforms, or Sabre PSS. Strong data and analytical skills with a track record of providing strategic recommendations. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills. Analytical mindset with experience in leveraging data to inform decisions. Familiarity with airline revenue management, merchandising, or retailing strategies. Experience managing/ implementing products or initiatives High-level strategic thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to convert big ideas into reality. Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI. Excellent communication and presentation skills to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences. Strong quantitative and research skills with proven data interpretation capabilities. Passion for knowledge sharing, learning, and teamwork. Excellent planning, organizational, and time-management skills. Proficiency in MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Technical knowledge of APIs, XML/JSON, and distribution technology platforms is an asset
