How you will make an impact? 

The Senior Analyst Commercial Finance will support Senior Manager FP&A Commercial for Thermo Fisher’s CMD business. The role is responsible for the delivering the Deal Desk process for Global Commercial. A main objective of the role is to handle the exceptional pricing approval process for quotes raised to the CMD Deal Desk. 

The Analytical Instruments Group (AIG) is comprised of businesses that partner with our customers across the Life Sciences and laboratory workflows. This role is within the Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD) within AIG. 

What you will do: 

Assess deals routed to the deal desk under pre-determined criteria and progress through the approval workflow 

Collaborate with commercial team to understand key assumptions and drivers for decision support, independently conduct ad hoc data analysis to identify business insights and observations, and where required, provide a recommendation to senior leadership 

Regularly collaborate with the supporting virtual deal desk team to discuss current and upcoming deals in order to proactively manage volumes and approval timeline 

Work with teammates and management to identify procedures for fulfilling nonstandard deals and introduce operational improvement opportunities 

Streamline and automate the process for non-standard deal approvals, thresholds and rules, approver roles and responsibilities, approval routing and workflow design 

Identify potential training needs and coordinate with internal teams to develop and deliver sales enablement tools 

Independently investigate data issues and/or information given, ask pertinent questions and identify root causes, collaborate with functional business partners and system support to improve data quality 

Build and update dashboards, PowerPoint and other business intelligence tools by data-mining in various systems 

Develop and design spreadsheets and manipulate data using functions, formulas, and graphs as well as using visualization tools such as PowerBI to undertake basic statistics, reveal trends and analyse variances. 

Proactively learn and adopt new systems and tools to improve analytics capability and accuracy 

Ad hoc investigations and proactive analytics  

How you will get here: 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a Business-related field 

5+ years confirmed experience in Finance 

Prior experience in a large global and matrixed organization 

Proficient user of commonly used systems (e.g. SAP, Hyperion, Power BI, Cognos, PowerPoint, etc.). Hyperion Planning and Excel proficiency is required 

Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to summarize and present information in a concise and effective manner 

Attention to detail and consistently delivering high quality work. Ability to learn quickly, meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced environment 

Good understanding of business processes and operations & financial controls, able to identify control weaknesses in existing process and recommend mitigation actions 

Proactive and able to work independently, and adaptable to changing priorities
