Job Description

This role is within the Finance and Operations team of the Private Equity group and will be part of the team responsible for fund operations and private reporting requirements, including supporting the launch of new fund strategies.  The Private Equity finance team, as a whole, is responsible for both public and private fund operations, business planning and forecasting, investor relations and financial reporting. The successful candidate will be a self-starter that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent interpersonal skills, is detail oriented, possesses a high degree of intellectual curiosity and has a strong foundation in finance and accounting.

The Senior Analyst, Finance will be responsible for assisting with fund operations and the private and/or public reporting needs of Brookfield’s Private Equity group.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for this position would include, among other things:

Review and assist in quarterly reporting to investors and other users, including financial statements prepared under US GAAP

Review and assist with calculating quarterly fund performance metrics, verifying that all valuation changes are appropriately incorporated into performance reporting

Preparation of public reporting templates prepared in accordance with IFRS

Preparation of public reporting templates comprised of metrics used in Brookfield Asset Management’s asset management reporting

Review of investor PCAP and available commitment schedules on a quarterly basis

Review of accounting packages for individual legal entities, including review of tax financials

Preparation of internal and external audit requests and maintaining appropriate control documentation

Review and assist in preparation of capital calls from, and distributions to investors

Assist with managing fund operations, including investment closes, investor queries, forecasting and compliance

Thorough understanding of the legal structure of the various funds and the related impact on funds flows and consolidation

Assist with analysis of complex accounting issues that arise, including coordination with auditors and fund administrators

Provide guidance and coaching to fund administration team and co-op students

Special projects & ad hoc requests as required

Requirements:

University degree

Professional accounting designation (CPA/CA preferred)

Three to five (3-5) years of progressive work experience in an accounting or auditing function

Experience in private funds and knowledge of the investment management industry, and experience dealing with complex ownership structures would be an asset (but not required)

Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative;

Superior communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills;

Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel;
