Senior Alteryx Specialist, Center of Excellence Accounting

The Team: The Alteryx Developer will be instrumental in developing complex Alteryx workflows to support the revenue and expense teams at S&P Global. This role focuses on leveraging Alteryx to enhance the speed and accuracy of financial processes while learning Excel-based accrual calculation models. A solid understanding of basic accounting concepts, including debits, credits, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis, is essential for ensuring data quality and process integrity through failsafe checks within the workflows. 

As a Senior Alteryx specialist, the individual will automate processes, schedule workflows within Alteryx Server, and create API-driven solutions to utilize multiple data sources efficiently. The Impact: The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Tableau and Power BI, coupled with a solid foundation in dashboard design and data analytics. UK shift hours required (2–11 PM IST), and the role requires the candidate to work out of the Hyderabad office four days a week. This role requires a proactive individual capable of translating complex business requirements into visually compelling and insightful dashboards that facilitate data-driven decision-making. The individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining Tableau dashboards for the Revenue and Expense teams, which will involve joining and blending data from multiple sources to create comprehensive visualizations. Proficiency in SQL Server is essential for effectively managing the data warehouse and ensuring data integrity. .  This position will support a team responsible for calculating complex revenue and expense accruals that impact various business units across the organization. The Alteryx Developer will also assist with ad hoc reporting and audit requests while ensuring compliance with SOX policies related to accounts receivable (AR) and revenue accounting. 

The role involves collaborating with accounting teams that rely on data from various subsystems, linking this information to calculation models that drive revenue accruals, customer invoicing, and expense accruals. This may include ownership of a revenue model and responsibilities related to the accounting close process. 

Experience with Oracle and SAP ERP navigation and ETL design is a plus.

Responsibilities: 

UK shift hours required (2–11 PM IST)

The role requires the candidate to work out of the Hyderabad office four days a week. 

Design, develop, and maintain Alteryx workflows to automate accrual models across various business groups. 

Provide Alteryx and data support to revenue and expense accruals teams. 

Assisting with reporting to internal FP&A teams. 

Work closely with other team members across the S&P Global Corporate Controllers team. 

Use broader knowledge of financial principles and theories to continually improve processes. 

Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact and collaborate with internal employees and external customers at all levels including third parties to achieve results. 

Strong ability to analyze and resolve issues timely and efficiently while ensuring SOX compliance is imperative. 

 
Qualifications: 

4-6 years of Alteryx experience preferred. 

2-3 years of experience working with Finance/Accounting teams. 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field. 

Experience with SAP/Oracle and the willingness to learn revenue and expense accounting concepts/principles related to ASC 606. 

Strong Excel skills such as Pivots and formulas 

Experience in Oracle/MS SQL Server DB design and implementation 

Willingness to learn our new systems and legacy systems at a fast pace. 

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.  

Ability to interact and collaborate with internal and external customers at all levels of management and staff globally.  

High degree of accuracy and management of heavy workload; understanding of contributions to the overall end to end process. 

Must be assertive to follow up on resolving issues, ability to multi-task in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.
