We’re hiring a Senior AI Engineer to lead the design and deployment of intelligent systems that redefine how data drives innovation in pharmaceutical and healthcare domains. This is a high-impact role for a seasoned technologist who combines deep machine learning expertise with a strategic mindset and thrives in translating complex research into scalable, production-grade solutions.

What to expect

Lead the development of AI/ML systems tailored to healthcare and life sciences, ensuring performance, scalability, and compliance.Translate cutting-edge research into production-ready solutions using advanced techniques in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP).Own the full lifecycle of AI products from ideation and prototyping to deployment, monitoring, and iteration.Design and execute experiments to validate models and explore novel approaches to biomedical challenges.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, clinicians, and product managers to align AI capabilities with business and clinical goals.Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth and promoting best practices across the team.Engage with clients and stakeholders, providing thought leadership and technical guidance to shape AI strategy and delivery.

What we’re looking for

Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.Several years of experience building and deploying machine learning systems in production, ideally within healthcare, pharma, or other regulated industries.Expert-level proficiency in Python, with strong command of Linux environments and intermediate experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.Familiarity with modern NLP and LLM frameworks such as LangSmith, LangGraph, and OpenAI APIs.Solid understanding of SQL and database systems, with experience handling large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.Experience with cloud-native ML deployment using tools like Kubernetes and containerization platforms.

IQVIA NLP is a leading provider of Natural Language Processing solutions focussed on Human Data Science. NLP is a foundational technique for AI and ML and a critical enabler for IQVIA’s Connected Intelligence solutions and the delivery of clinical trials and studies. IQVIA NLP is an acknowledged leader in this space with a global customer base spanning Major Pharma companies, Healthcare Payers & Providers and Government.

By using NLP, IQVIA and its customers leverage the value of unstructured patient data, social media and scientific literature, impacting pharmaceutical/MedTech development and care delivery from Bench to Bedside. In 2022, IQVIA launched its next generation Cloud and Data Science centric NLP platform which is expected to rapidly accelerate the technologies’ uptake. The platform includes our leading-edge multi-method NLP core, our market leading curation component and an enterprise class automation server for deployment in cloud or in enterprise.

The IQVIA NLP team is around 120 FTE worldwide. We collaborate closely with the wider DTA&AI team in the areas of graph technology, deidentification and predictive analytics and broadly across IQVIA.
