Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA) is looking for a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer (Level 4) to join our team in Everett, WA.

As an Aerodynamic Stability and Control Engineer, you will perform analyses to support both airplanes in development and service. You will gain an airplane-level perspective of the vehicle

requirements, aerodynamic performance and human factors. You will be relied upon as a flight dynamics and handling qualities expert, influencing the development of the airplane, verifying capabilities during the flight test program, and/or while supporting our airline customers who operate our airplanes. You will have opportunities to interface directly with other disciplines and the Flight Test pilot community, expanding your network and sphere of influence. You will utilize a variety of computational tools and techniques to reach solutions to complex problems with competing requirements. You develop and use high fidelity steady-state and dynamic simulation models to analyze extreme flight conditions. You’ll be an integral part of ensuring the safety, performance and efficiency of current and future Boeing Commercial Airplane products.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Develops and utilizes advanced 6 Degree of Freedom (DOF) aerodynamic flight models.

Collects and analyzes data from various aerodynamics testing methods (e.g. flight test, CFD, wind tunnel).

Develops and verifies airplane-level flight requirements.

Develops control surface and actuation size requirements.

Develops documentation to capture design decisions, analysis results, and process improvements.

Develops new tools and techniques for improving analytical efficiency.

Provides technical guidance during flight testing.

Understands and applies FAR part 25 certification requirements for large transport aircraft.

Applies understanding of flight physics to advise airplane design decisions.

Addresses in-service accidents and incidences related to flight handling qualities.

Coordinates with a variety of internal and external customers.

Responds to a variety of technical challenges.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering.

8+ years of experience in Aerospace.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Master, or Doctor of Science degree in Aeronautical-related Engineering field or Mechanical Engineering with an airplane interest.

10+ years of experience in Aerospace.

Knowledge of aerodynamic principles and analysis tools.

Computer Science, or mathematics minor/interest.

Strong programming skills using at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, Matlab, etc).

Experience working on a team to solve complex problems.

Strong understanding of mathematical and statistical methods applied to engineering problems.

Ability to deal with ambiguous technical environment.

Ability to learn quickly and expand personal expertise with or without technical guidance.

Summary pay range: $121,500 - $164,450
