A Day in the LifeWe are seeking a skilled data steward to join our HR Analytics team to support our Digital and AI Transformation, a future-focused strategy to build a digital-first operating model that redefines how HR delivers value. Our vision is to harness the power of AI to create frictionless, personalized employee experiences, unlock innovation, and drive operational excellence. As a Senior HR Data Steward, you will directly support this vision by ensuring HR data is a trusted and reliable asset, unlocking insights across Medtronic. You will enable effective decision-making by making sure data is accurate, complete, consistent, timely, and secure for all who use it (employees, people leaders, business leaders, HR partners, and AI tools).The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, data quality, and metadata management, with proven experience in querying and profiling large datasets to support implementation of data governance and quality standards.
Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Data Quality Management:Develop and implement data validation processes and tools to proactively identify quality issues.Monitor data and metric quality across various sources to rapidly identify inconsistencies or anomalies, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.Explore and leverage AI capabilities and automation tools to drive efficiency and enhance data quality and governance processes .Data Governance:Collaborate with HR Analytics team and subject matter experts to define and maintain business definitions (metrics, organization structures, data mappings) and translate into data quality validation requirements.Partner with HR data architect to establish and enforce master data standards, enabling consistency and predictablity across curated HR data sources.
Metadata Management:Build and maintain metadata catalogs, creating a single source of truth for employees and AI tools to discover, understand, and govern HR data, metrics, and reporting assets.Document end-to-end data lineage (from source to consumption) to enable impact analysis, highlight downstream risks, identify affected users, and support proactive change communication.
Data Access & Security Governance:Implement and support recurring processes to apply and audit data and reporting permissions, ensuring access is timely, secure, and in compliance with HR data privacy requirements.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Must have full time Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.Overall, 8-12 years of work experience.4+ years of relevant experience in data governance, data quality, or data management role.Nice to have:Understanding of data quality management, metadata management, and data governance.Strong analytical capability in data reconciliation and validation.Hands-on experience in data analysis and reporting using SQL and Power BI.Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms like Snowflake or Databricks.Knowledge of data management principles and the analytics pipeline.Proficiency with tools for documenting and cataloging data assets (e.g., Atlan, Collibra).Ability to create concise and clear documentation.Detail oriented with a meticulous approach to data accuracy.Expertise working with Human Resources data.Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional and remote teams.Project management skills with the ability to switch between assignments and work to deadlines.Motivation for process improvement and personal development.
