Job Description:
Caterpillar, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounting Manager to join our Consolidations team at our Corporate Headquarters in Irving, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Caterpillar’s corporate accounting processes and gain experience with the Company’s consolidated financial statements and SEC reporting. This position consolidates enterprise financial results monthly in addition to executing external reporting deliverables, specifically footnotes filed within Form 10-Q and 10-K. You will be exposed to a variety of accounting functions and complex and/or technical analysis and work with a variety of teams and leaders across the enterprise. This exciting position allows you the opportunity to supervise a small group of accountants who have a variety of responsibilities including affiliate reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley controls and compliance, and overall legal entity closing coordination.
What You Will Do:
Lead and manage a team of 2 responsible for accounting functions of varying complexity including working with selected financial systems, interpreting and adhering to Caterpillar’s accounting practices and procedures.
Evaluate staff performance, provide guidance, employee development and participating in hiring and employee selection.
Consolidate approximately 250 legal entity financial ledgers to generate Caterpillar Inc.’s consolidated financial results, including statements of operations and financial position.
Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery of financial reports and statements, including SEC filing footnotes.
Provide technical guidance and expertise on accounting issues such as consolidations process, divestitures, SEC reporting, and US GAAP requirements.
Provide strategic direction and guidance to the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Collaborating with internal and external parties including SEC Reporting, Financial and Analysis Reporting Group, legal entity and business unit groups, as well as internal and external auditors. Present financial findings and reports to Senior Consolidations Manager, offering insights and recommendations for decision-making.
What Skills You Will Have:
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent. CPA or CMA preferred. 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience. Proven supervisory experience.
Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams, and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Public accounting background and/or experience at a multinational public company
Professional Certification (Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or equivalent)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Proven experience in managing consolidated financial statements

The position will be located in Irving, TX
This position requires being in the office 5 days a week

Summary Pay Range:
$144,960.00 - $217,320.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
