Senior Accounting Auditor

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:Detailed responsibilities:
. Build a strong, transparent, and efficient two-way communication and partnership with the regional and process stakeholders under your coverage.
Control Plan Management:
. Ensure that the internal Accounting Control Plan is properly implemented and monitored across the regions and entities within your scope.
. Perform oversight reviews of control set-ups in the entities under your responsibility. Assess and quantify deficiencies identified in accounting controls and prepare corresponding reports for senior management and governance bodies.
. Ensure that regional finance teams comply with their control obligations and have fully implemented the defined control procedures and standards.
. Perform second-line controls on central teams when required.
Accounting Certification:
. Obtain and analyse accounting certificates from the different entities and regions under your scope.
. Maintain a clear understanding of the production and control frameworks of those entities and regions.
. Accurately identify and report issues encountered by entities and regions, along with related remediation plans.
. Contribute to the preparation of related summary and status reports.
Recommendations:
. Monitor recommendations issued by internal audit, regulators, and external auditors in the covered regions.
Operational Risk Incidents:
. Follow up on operational risk incidents impacting Finance and evaluate their implications on the control framework.
. Monitor remediation actions and associated timelines.
Internal Control Committees:
. Organize regular (at least quarterly) internal control meetings with the regions and entities in scope to review accounting control matters.
. Contribute to financial and accounting risk committee meetings for the assigned regions and transversal topics.
. Schedule ad-hoc meetings with regional finance teams when necessary.
Other Control Plans:
. Ensure proper implementation and follow-up of any other relevant control plans across the assigned perimeter.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Technical Skills:
. Ideal candidate profile: professional with audit or internal control experience in financial services, ideally from a consulting or audit firm, and with strong knowledge of IFRS norms.
. Proven experience in audit or control functions within financial institutions or similar environments.
. Solid accounting expertise and analytical skills.
Language Skills:
. English – Expert level
Soft Skills:
. Strong organizational and planning abilities
. Critical and analytical thinking

Must be physically in Portugal, and a work at the office 3/5 days a week
