Financial Reporting & Close: Manage and execute the full-cycle month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance.
Take ownership of specialized construction accounting functions, including Job Costing/Project Accounting, Work-in-Progress (WIP) Schedules, retainage tracking, and revenue recognition (e.g., percentage-of-completion).
Prepare and analyze financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow) and provide detailed financial reports, forecasts, and variance analysis to management to support strategic decision-making and cost control.
Coordinate with the external CPA for annual reviews and tax preparation. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, tax requirements, and construction industry-specific payroll (e.g., certified payroll) and lien laws.
Oversee and manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and the payroll functions, ensuring efficient cash flow management and accurate project billing (e.g., progress billing/pay applications).
Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, internal controls, and software utilization (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300/Timberline) to enhance efficiency and accuracy as the company grows.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:
Hands-on experience in tracking costs against budgets for individual projects.
Ability to accurately prepare and analyze WIP schedules for over/under billing.
Strong knowledge and application of construction revenue methods.
Proactively identifying and communicating cost overruns, budget variances, and financial risks to project managers and ownership.
The ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for company leadership.
Proven ability to work effectively as a financial partner with non-financial staff, such as Project Managers and Superintendents.

Education:
Bachelors

Experience:
1-4 years

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required.
Thorough, demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Enterprise, specifically utilizing the Job Costing and Payroll functions. Other software will be considered.
Experience using Microsoft Office products including Word, and Excel.
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in contracts, invoices, and financial reports.
Ability to read, write, and understand English.
