Senior Accountant - UIC Commercial Services
**Overview** UIC Commercial Services seeks a Senior Accountant responsible for overseeing advanced accounting tasks and ensuring accurate financial records. The position contributes to reliable reporting, regulatory compliance, and business planning. Candidates should have proven analytical ability, deep knowledge of accounting practices, and proficiency with financial systems. **Responsibilities** Essential Functions will include: + Assists with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end general ledger reconciliations and routine journal entries. + Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies. + Prepare various tax returns to include heavy haul Tax, hotel tax, car rental tax and sales and use tax. + Prepare property tax returns. + Maintain equipment fixed asset records, to include managing fixed asset purchases, entering equipment into accounting system and calculating depreciation & amortization. + Support external audits and tax filings by preparing necessary documentation. + Analyze financial data and provide insights to management. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations. + Setup and maintain equipment loans. + Other job duties as assigned. **Qualifications** Minimum Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred). + 3–5 years of accounting experience. + Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). + Experience with accounting software such as Sage Timberline and general ledger and advance knowledge of MS Excel. + Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. + The ability to work accurately and independently while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. Preferred Qualifications: + Knowledge of Sage 300 experience + Physical and Mental Demands: + Position is that of a sedentary nature. + Must be able to use standard office equipment. + Must be able to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds. Physical and Mental Demands: + Work is primarily sedentary, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods while using a computer and reviewing financial data. + Regular use of hands and fingers for data entry, calculator operation, and handling documents. + Visual acuity required for reading detailed reports, spreadsheets, and compliance documentation. + Occasional lifting and carrying of files, binders, or office supplies up to 20 pounds. + Ability to concentrate on detailed financial information for sustained periods of time while maintaining accuracy. + Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. + Mental demands include problem-solving, interpreting complex financial information, applying accounting principles, and making sound judgments in support of business decisions.
