Job Description

The Senior Accountant (Revenue) will support the Group Controllership revenue accounting function within the Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG) and Bioproduction Group (BPG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a member of the Group Controllership team, key responsibilities include:

Review and analyze complex revenue agreements to evaluate and identify potential revenue recognition issues (i.e. complex language, omissions of data, necessary additions, language changes)Review in-licensing and out-licensing milestone contracts for proper accounting treatmentPerform month-end close activities, including journal entry preparationPrepare monthly roll-forwards and other financial reportsPerform account reconciliations for revenue-related accounts and any other assigned areasEnsure compliance with US GAAP, the company’s revenue recognition policies and SOX controlsSupport monthly AR and DSO process  Partner with and support the Finance teams by assisting with revenue recognition related questions and provide technical guidance to the team and financial partnersSupport internal and external auditsParticipate in projects related to process improvementSupport ad-hoc tasks and requests as needed

Key Differentiators:

Strong accounting background (revenue recognition experience a plus)ERP system experience (HFM, SAP, JD Edwards/E1, Oracle R12 a plus)Life science industry experience a plus

Education and Work Experience:

Bachelor's degree (Finance or Accounting)6+ years of accounting experience
