Short Description Individual should have a strong understanding of accounting theory. This includes, but not limited to: TThorough knowledge of the P&L and Balance Sheet, as well as the impact of journal entries to all financial statements.Individual should have strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management.Individual will be required to guide staff accountants when necessary and in the absence of manager.Under moderate supervision, performs full performance professional level accounting work, processes financial transactions, prepares financial records, reports and invoices; and guides management through financial decision making to ensure compliance with fiscal rules and polices in accordance with using grant guidelines, including GAAP, GASB, FASB accounting regulations, and 2 CFR 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance). Experience Required

Minimum 4 years of experience in general or grant accounting fields.

 

Experience in sponsored project (post-award) administration or professional level accounting experience reconciling accounting discrepancies, analyzing expenditures and preparing financial reports.

 

Experience with account analysis, balance sheet review, journal posting, bank reconciliations. Intermediate level spreadsheet skills; experience with ERP/GL financial reporting software. Preferred, not required: Healthcare experience and grant/foundation accounting.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) in accounting, finance or business administration and at least four years accounting experience.

Special Requirements

Ability to cover Manager’s responsibilities during PTO. Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Ability to handle confidential information with a high degree of professionalism. Ability to train and guide staff level accountants.
