Senior Accountant
OverviewThe Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting full‑cycle accounting operations in a fast‑paced, multi‑department environment. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented accounting professional with strong balance sheet experience, a solid understanding of GAAP/ASPE, and the ability to partner closely with operational teams.
The position involves complex reconciliations, financial reporting, tax filings, and cross‑functional collaboration, with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and continuous process improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & ReportingPerform full‑cycle accounting duties, ensuring accurate and timely financial resultsPrepare monthly profit and loss statements and related financial reportsPost period‑end journal entries and perform variance analysisReconcile complex balance sheet accounts (e.g., cash, credit cards, general clearing, accruals, payroll withholdings)Maintain bank reconciliations and support treasury activitiesRecord intercompany transactions and reconcile trial balancesReconcile sales data across systems and integrationsTax & CompliancePrepare and calculate regular tax filings (GST, PST, LST, Sales & Use Tax)Support annual external audits and tax filing requirementsMaintain strong internal controls; identify risks and recommend improvementsCollaboration & Process ImprovementLiaise with operations and business leaders on accounting mattersCollaborate cross‑functionally with marketing, operations, and other teamsContribute to process improvements with a focus on automation and efficiencySupport ad‑hoc accounting and reporting requests as neededMust‑Have Qualifications3+ years of progressive accounting experienceProven experience performing complex balance sheet reconciliationsStrong understanding of debits, credits, and operational P&LExperience preparing journal entries and working on financial statementsNear completion of CPA designation or fully designated (CPA, ACCA, ACA, or US CPA)Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUM formulas)Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environmentNice‑to‑Have QualificationsExperience with MS Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systemsHospitality or retail accounting experience (high‑volume POS transactions)Power BI experience at an end‑user levelExperience working in a multi‑system environmentStrong financial analysis skillsKnowledge of ASPE / GAAP (IFRS exposure acceptable)Soft SkillsIndependent and self‑drivenCoachable with a positive attitudeStrong team player with a growth mindsetAnalytical problem solver who understands the “why” behind the numbersAble to compute and analyze information quickly under pressureJob Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Vancouver, BC.
