Senior Accountant
Job Title Senior Accountant Overview The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting full‑cycle accounting operations in a fast‑paced, multi‑department environment. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented accounting professional with strong balance sheet experience, a solid understanding of GAAP/ASPE, and the ability to partner closely with operational teams. The position involves complex reconciliations, financial reporting, tax filings, and cross‑functional collaboration, with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and continuous process improvement. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Reporting + Perform full‑cycle accounting duties, ensuring accurate and timely financial results + Prepare monthly profit and loss statements and related financial reports + Post period‑end journal entries and perform variance analysis + Reconcile complex balance sheet accounts (e.g., cash, credit cards, general clearing, accruals, payroll withholdings) + Maintain bank reconciliations and support treasury activities + Record intercompany transactions and reconcile trial balances + Reconcile sales data across systems and integrations Tax & Compliance + Prepare and calculate regular tax filings (GST, PST, LST, Sales & Use Tax) + Support annual external audits and tax filing requirements + Maintain strong internal controls; identify risks and recommend improvements Collaboration & Process Improvement + Liaise with operations and business leaders on accounting matters + Collaborate cross‑functionally with marketing, operations, and other teams + Contribute to process improvements with a focus on automation and efficiency + Support ad‑hoc accounting and reporting requests as needed Must‑Have Qualifications + 3+ years of progressive accounting experience + Proven experience performing complex balance sheet reconciliations + Strong understanding of debits, credits, and operational P&L + Experience preparing journal entries and working on financial statements + Near completion of CPA designation or fully designated (CPA, ACCA, ACA, or US CPA) + Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUM formulas) + Strong written and verbal communication skills + Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications + Experience with MS Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems + Hospitality or retail accounting experience (high‑volume POS transactions) + Power BI experience at an end‑user level + Experience working in a multi‑system environment + Strong financial analysis skills + Knowledge of ASPE / GAAP (IFRS exposure acceptable) Soft Skills + Independent and self‑driven + Coachable with a positive attitude + Strong team player with a growth mindset + Analytical problem solver who understands the “why” behind the numbers + Able to compute and analyze information quickly under pressure Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Vancouver, BC.
