Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the corporate accounting team, owning full-cycle general ledger activities, driving an accurate and timely month-end close, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal controls. This position contributes to a finance transformation by documenting and improving processes, supporting audits, and partnering on strategic accounting projects. The role offers high visibility with leadership and strong opportunities for growth and development within a newly built and expanding team.

Responsibilities

Prepare monthly journal entries to meet month-end close deadlines and ensure the accuracy of financial data.Maintain detailed account analysis and prepare monthly account reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP.Perform full-cycle general ledger activities, including month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations.Prepare financial reporting schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external stakeholders.Support the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheet and related reports.Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and other process documentation for accounting activities.Document processes and maintain robust internal controls to support compliance and audit readiness.Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function.Prepare schedules and provide detailed information to support financial and operational audits.Perform bank reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, accruals, and other key accounting tasks as needed.Conduct ad hoc projects and financial analyses to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.Support the Accounting team on strategic projects related to finance transformation and corporate initiatives.Collaborate with cross-functional partners and leadership to ensure high-quality financial information and reporting.

Essential Skills

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field.4+ years of progressive accounting experience.5+ years of full-cycle general ledger experience, including month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations.Strong understanding of US GAAP and its application in a corporate environment.Hands-on experience with financial reporting and preparation of financial statements and balance sheets.Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas.Demonstrated experience with account reconciliations and bank reconciliations.Experience with accrual accounting, fixed asset accounting, and general financial analysis.Proven ability to document processes and maintain internal controls.Excellent documentation skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to work effectively under deadlines and manage multiple priorities during month-end and audit periods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

MBA and/or CPA credential is a plus.Experience working with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP systems.Experience supporting audits and preparing detailed audit schedules.Background in financial reporting within a corporate or multi-entity environment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams.Comfort working in a transforming finance organization with evolving processes and systems.

Work Environment

This Senior Accountant position sits within a growing corporate accounting team that is part of a broader finance transformation. The role is structured as a contract-to-hire opportunity with defined conversion plans, offering a clear pathway to long-term employment for strong performers. The schedule is onsite Monday through Thursday and remote on Fridays, with core hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The team currently operates in a modern office environment with plans for phased moves within the building as the group expands. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $49.00/hr.
