Senior Accountant – Year‑End Cleanup & Reconciliation Project


Project Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support a year‑end financial cleanup and reconciliation project. This role will focus on reviewing, reconciling, and resolving discrepancies across multiple balance sheet accounts, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), General Ledger (GL) accounts, and project‑based accounts. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a deadline‑driven environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesBalance Sheet ReconciliationsPerform comprehensive reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including AP, AR, GL accounts, and project accountsIdentify, research, and resolve variances, aged balances, and unreconciled itemsEnsure reconciliations are fully supported, accurate, and compliant with accounting standardsAP & AR CleanupReview vendor and customer subledgers for accuracy and completenessClear old, duplicate, or unsupported balancesCoordinate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies, credits, and unapplied cashGL Account ReviewReconcile GL accounts to supporting schedules and subledgersReview journal entries for accuracy, proper classification, and completenessIdentify legacy issues, misclassifications, and unsupported balancesPrepare correcting journal entries as neededProject AccountingReconcile project cost accounts and work‑in‑process (WIP), if applicableAnalyze project balances for accuracy, proper cutoff, and completenessResolve historical project variances and close inactive or completed projectsDocumentation & ControlsPrepare clear reconciliation schedules, rollforwards, and journal entriesEnsure proper documentation and audit‑ready support for all adjustmentsRecommend process improvements to prevent recurring reconciliation issuesCollaboration & ReportingPartner with AP, AR, FP&A, project managers, and other stakeholders to resolve issuesProvide regular status updates on reconciliation progress and open itemsSupport management and audit requests as neededQualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance5–8+ years of progressive accounting experienceStrong balance sheet reconciliation and cleanup experienceWorking knowledge of GAAPAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, Workday, Dynamics, or similar)Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlinesJob Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.05 - $43.26/hr.
