Senior Accountant

Job Title: Accountant Job Description The Accountant leads the full accounting cycle, including monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role manages key accounting processes such as general ledger, reconciliations, accounts payable, and regulatory filings, and collaborates across departments to strengthen internal controls and improve financial procedures. Responsibilities + Lead and manage the monthly financial closing cycle to ensure accurate and timely reporting. + Complete general ledger and balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly. + Prepare and file various regulatory reports, including but not limited to state sales and use tax filings. + Manage and support the annual year-end review process with external auditors. + Prepare quarterly and annual financial forecasts and assist with the annual third-party audit. + Perform and support the annual budget cycle, including coordination with internal stakeholders. + Manage, oversee, and assist with the accounts payable process to ensure timely and accurate payments. + Manage the process of reconciling bank accounts and ensure all banking transactions are properly recorded. + Maintain strong accounting controls by establishing and updating the chart of accounts and defining accounting policies and procedures. + Confirm financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses, collecting and consolidating financial data, and preparing financial statements. + Collaborate with multiple departments across the organization to develop and improve internal accounting procedures and policies. + Meet accounting and financial objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions. + Prepare and oversee various regulatory filings, including but not limited to state sales and use tax filings, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. + Recommend and support internal control policies and cost reduction initiatives across accounting tasks. + Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as part of the monthly and annual close. + Support accounts receivable activities as needed to ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of customer balances. + Assist with audit requests by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and explanations for auditors. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. + Approximately 7 years of progressive accounting work experience. + General knowledge of US GAAP, accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. + Proficiency in managing general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations. + Experience with month-end close processes and financial reporting. + Hands-on experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. + Strong skills in bank reconciliations and journal entry preparation. + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables. + Experience using QuickBooks for accounting activities. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization. + Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail. + Demonstrated strong work ethic and a high sense of urgency. Additional Skills & Qualifications + CPA license or active CPA aspirations are a very strong plus. + Experience with NetSuite is a plus. + Understanding of ERP implementation is a plus. + Experience supporting or managing external financial audits. + Ability to analyze variances and recommend corrective actions. + Ability to recommend and implement internal control improvements and cost reduction measures. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in an accounting environment. + Comfort working cross-functionally to improve accounting procedures and policies. Work Environment This role operates in a professional office-based accounting environment that relies heavily on modern financial systems and tools. You will work extensively with Excel, including pivot tables, and accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, with potential exposure to NetSuite and other ERP systems. The position involves regular collaboration with colleagues across multiple departments, external auditors, and finance stakeholders. Work typically follows standard business hours, with occasional additional time required during peak periods such as month-end close, year-end review, budgeting, and audit cycles. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Nashville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
