Job Title: SR. Accountant
Job Description
The SR. Accountant will lead the accounting department, managing and supervising all aspects including billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and tax compliance. This role involves assisting with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning of the company budget.
Responsibilities
Oversee and manage general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.Post daily customer invoicing and accounts payable invoices.Hire, train, and retain skilled accounting staff.Maintain financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.Evaluate accounting and internal control systems.Achieve accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews.Prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends; determine system improvements and implement change.Provide management with information vital to the decision-making process.Assess current accounting operations, offer recommendations for improvement, and implement new processes.Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.Prepare and organize month-end financial statements for record and review.Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and operations by defining, benchmarking, and implementing operational best practices.Oversee daily collection calls for entry into the aging summary and detailed lien report.Supervise Staff Accountant in preparation and payment of all sales tax returns – Monthly and quarterly.Assist in the preparation of yearly property tax assessment report.Work with Project Managers to close out monthly cost reports.Organize information, statements, and all schedules required for year-end audit.Ensure company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements.Manage and replenish petty cash monthly.Provide backup and support to Staff Accountant.Accomplish accounting and organizational mission by completing related tasks as assigned.Essential Skills
Strong overall accounting skills, including oversight of A/P, A/R, General Ledger, and Taxes.Management skills to oversee an accounting department of three individuals.5+ years of accounting experience.Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with an emphasis in accounting.Experience in the construction field is a plus.Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and GAAP.Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and regulations.Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in CHRO and Prevailing Wage is a plus.Previous experience as an accounting supervisor or manager.HR experience is a plus.Proficiency in accounting software is a plus.Work Environment
The position is onsite every day in Wallingford, CT, within an office setting. The work schedule is Monday through Friday. The company offers a family-oriented atmosphere with a focus on respect and employee appreciation, including year-end bonuses and monthly celebrations.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.46 - $40.86/hr.
