Senior Accountant
Job Title: Startup Senior Accountant

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support core general ledger functions, bookkeeping, and financial reporting activities. This role involves collaborating closely with the VP of Finance and working with construction and operations teams in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment.

Responsibilities

Own general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual P&L and balance sheet reports.Perform detailed variance analysis and investigate fluctuations in financial results.Review account and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.Apply construction accounting standards across active projects.Support tax filings, regulatory submissions, and external audits.Ensure compliance with GAAP; support SOX controls and internal processes.Provide financial analysis and insights to support leadership decision-making.Partner cross-functionally with construction, operations, and finance leadership.

Essential Skills

Strong experience in construction accounting and/or corporate real estate accounting.Solid working knowledge of GAAP; familiarity with SOX requirements.Hands-on experience preparing financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliations.Experience working in NetSuite is required; familiarity with Ramp and Chase Document Exchange is preferred.Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with a high level of accuracy and ownership.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Background in startup, venture-backed, or high-growth environments.Exposure to IFRS reporting standards.Builder/operator mindset with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.Comfortable working cross-functionally with construction, operations, and executive teams.

Work Environment

This role is based in New York City and requires onsite presence in a newly renovated brownstone office near 55th & 56th. The schedule is Monday to Friday, with occasional extended hours during close. The position offers two work-from-home days per month and work-from-home options on summer Fridays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
