Senior Accountant
Description Title is technically Financial Analyst but more of a Senior Accountant role Reporting to the Manager, Accounting & Financial Reporting, the Financial Analyst is largely responsible for overseeing and assisting in the various aspects of financial reporting, consolidation and tax compliance of Capstone Copper Corp. (“Capstone”) and its entities managed at Head Office, including the execution of the monthly accounting close according to the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting and IFRS. Day to day: • Month-end close out - balance sheet reconciliations, consolidations • Derivative accounting and precious metal streams • Quarter-end - preparation of financial statement disclosure notes • Month end - accounting working papers • Liaising with auditors • Oversight technical accounting issues and policies - new IFRS standards • SOX and or IFRS Responsibilities: • Contribute to and review the full cycle accounting of Capstone and all entities managed at Head Office – accounts payable, banking, self-assessments, intercompany billings, general bookkeeping, and approval of accounting system batches, bank reconciliations, and payments, among other tasks • External and Internal Audit – assistance with the preparation/collection of any materials/analysis/documents requested by the Company’s auditors as part of annual audit and/or review procedures and internal controls testing • Prepare the quarterly sales and volumes by metal marketing working paper, • Assist with various steps of the consolidation process in order to learn and eventually take over the process • Preparation of financial statements for subsidiaries in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) • Preparation of working papers and journal entries regarding complex transactions • Contribute to the reconciliation of multiple general ledger balance sheet accounts (assets, liabilities, equity), as well as review reconciliations prepared by the Accountant, on a monthly basis • Assist in the analysis of technical questions/new transactions related to financial reporting • Preparation and distribution of the monthly G&A cost reporting and analysis for Head Office • Coordinate transfer pricing compliance process, administration of the Company’s Transfer Pricing program and intercompany transactions • Preparation and maintenance of internal loan schedules between group companies. • Ensure internal control compliance by adhering to internal control requirements • During down time, primarily Q3, assist the FP&A team with the annual budget process. • Any other projects/reporting that may arise from time to time as required by the role and/or at the request of the Manager, Accounting & Financial Reporting and/or Manager, Corporate Accounting Skills ifrs, sap, CPA, consolidation, financial statement, sap s/4 hana Top Skills Details ifrs,sap,CPA,consolidation,financial statement Additional Skills & Qualifications NICE TO HAVE • SAPS/4Hana Experience is ideal; SAP Concur and CentreSuite knowledge would be ideal as well – the Corporate Accountant won’t be processing on these systems but they will have oversight • Onestream • 3+ years of work experience with Big 4 audit processes and procedures preferred • Spanish Speaker Key Competencies / Skills • Ability to recognize requirements, prioritize deliverables and work within defined timelines • Possess strong communication skills, both verbal, and written, express thoughts in an organized, concise manner and demonstrate the ability to use tact and discretion in all interactions • Ability to perform a number of different tasks very quickly in a fast-paced environment • Possess strongly developed time management and organization skills, with the proven ability to juggle and reprioritize based on business demands and priorities • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications with employees and external consultants • Developed self-confidence, interpersonal flexibility, initiative and perseverance • Positive, proactive, team-focused attitude and a desire to do whatever it takes are essential Experience Level Expert Level Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
