*Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the accounting books in Japan, comply with both US GAAP and local statutory requirements, in a timely manner.
*Improve overall internal control environment and accounting process efficiency and effectiveness through new systems & processes implementation
*Support transition to own distribution model in Japan from accounting and compliance perspective.
What You Can Expect
<Accounting >
Ensure that financial statements are accurate and compliant with both US GAAP and local statutory reporting requirements.
Complete month end and quarterly close procedures including journal entries postings.
Prepare and submit balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline. Proactively investigate variances and resolve any issues.
Liaise with the head office corporate accounting team.
Support implementation of new accounting systems and processes as part of the transition to own distribution model.
Assist with accounting queries from local and corporate business partners.
<Banking >
Complete bank reconciliation.
Liaise with bank relationship manager, accounts payable and treasury team to resolve banking or payment related issues.
Complete cash forecast and ensure sufficient funding for ongoing operations.
<Taxation >
Review and approve local tax compliance work prepared by E&Y, including income tax, consumption tax and property tax filings.
Complete quarterly tax provision in OneSource.
<Business Partnering >
Partner with the Japan Leadership team to ensure strong internal control procedures are established and global policies are being followed by the whole organization.
Provide training on accounting policies and procedures to the business.
Partner with the Finance team to ensure clarity of accounting entries.
What You Bring to the Table
Professional individual with at least 5+ years experience in a similar role with following skillsets:
Deep and technical knowledge in accounting
Business English Fluency, both oral and written
Proven ability to learn to navigate in new systems (i.e. SAP)
What Makes You Unique
College/University with degree in Accounting
Nissho Boki Grade 2
SAP experience
Experience working in a multinational organization
