Senior Accountant

Description

Manage financial accounting, statement preparation, and period close processesPerform needed month, quarter, year-end close entries including calculation and recording of management fees, FF&E and taxes reserves, depreciation, payroll, health care and 401K, and any needed Operating Expense adjusting journal entries and accruals for each hotel within assigned portfolio.Monitor and reconcile cash and FF&E balances with lending institutions, ensuring reserves align with operating/loan agreementsReview and reconcile hotel intercompany accounts with sister companies and PEI entities at the end of each period to ensure needed cash transfers are discussed, reconciled, and addressed with Senior Accounting Manager.Prepare Hotel Owner Franchise invoice and submit summary of postings; calculate royalty accruals and process payments.Prepare and submit sales/use tax returns for applicable state and counties and processes payment.Coordinate and communicate period-end close checklists and deadlines with the hotel GMs and field associates as needed.Engage in and assist in implementation of ongoing, annual, and strategic planning processesPartner with CFO to design, plan for, and implement and support Operating and Capital Budgets in conjunction with Operations and Accounting leaders.Assist in the management of departmental planning efforts to ensure all critical dates, deliverables, and meetings are detailed, tracked, and, where appropriate, supported.Engage in and help facilitate monthly team meetings.Support Operations and Executive leadership on business issues and projectsPartner with Operations leaders in preparation and presentation of monthly financial statement reviews with Executive leadershipSupport Operations team through management of critical financial analyses, external reporting needs, and hotel-specific requests and questions.Engage in periodic hotel GM meetings; present relevant content and support accounting-related training topics as needed.Support accounting needs for Construction team including management, tracking, and reporting of CIP estimates, actual costs, loan draws/reimbursement process; understand loan documents and requirements.Manage hotel portfolio cash accounts, investor reporting, and quarterly distribution processes.Understand and adhere to relevant operating agreements for a portfolio of hotels under the PHP umbrella.Ensure timely creation of cash forecasts and sufficiency to support targeted quarterly distributions.Assist with the creation of quarterly investor letters designed to inform ownership of recent performance and quarterly distributions.Manage quarterly cash distributions for assigned portfolio.Contribute to the professional development of team members and colleagues.Collaborate with Sr. Accounting Manager and CFO to identify training needs and approaches to expand the understanding and skill level of other associates.Help facilitate professional development training including accounting, financial analysis, leadership, technology, and project management.Partner with Operations team to train hotel leaders and associates on various topics.Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1.Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

2.Master’s degree in business, accounting or finance (Highly Preferred)

3.Minimum 5 years of directly relevant experience

4.Certified Public Account (Current or In-Process; Highly Preferred)

5.Experience at public accounting firm (Preferred)

6.Experience at hospitality or travel-related company (Preferred)

7.Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.

8.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle challenging situations and provide effective solutions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
