Position Overview
A mission-driven organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee financial reporting, treasury operations, and accounting systems. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role is responsible for producing key financial reports, managing cash flow and banking relationships, and optimizing the use of financial software platforms. The ideal candidate will have over ten years of accounting experience, including at least five years in a senior financial role within a non-profit environment.
Key Responsibilities
+ Partner with the CFO to support financial planning, budget development, and strategic use of funding.
+ Assist in preparing annual and multi-year budgets, evaluating financial performance, and recommending improvements.
+ Lead the finance team in reporting, revenue analysis, audits, tax filings, and asset management.
+ Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations and reporting deadlines.
+ Coordinate cross-functional financial workflows and team communications.
+ Serve as the primary liaison with banks, auditors, and financial software vendors.
+ Generate flash reports and other financial summaries for executive review.
+ Prepare monthly financial committee reports in coordination with the CFO.
+ Support year-end financial statement preparation and documentation.
+ Review and analyze program-level financial reports post-monthly close.
+ Provide specialized financial reporting for affiliated housing partnerships.
+ Produce ad hoc reports for executive leadership as needed.
Required Skills
+ Accounting operations, general ledger management, reconciliations, month-end close
+ Financial reporting, journal entries, audits, accounts payable/receivable
+ GAAP compliance, balance sheet analysis
Qualification's
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA and/or Master’s degree preferred.
+ Experience: Minimum of 8 years in accounting/finance, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role. Experience in public accounting or human services non-profits is a plus.
+ Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP and financial operations in a non-profit setting.
+ Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software, Windows OS, and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
+ Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational and customer service abilities.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $39.42/hr.
