Senior Accountant
Seeking a Senior Accountant for an Architectural Services Firm!

Job Description

The Senior Accountant will support general ledger operations, assist with monthly and annual financial close processes, and perform account reconciliations. This role involves preparing comprehensive financial reports, including project-specific summaries, weekly updates, and monthly statements, while ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and upholding internal control standards. The Senior Accountant will manage client billing procedures, ensuring invoices are accurate and sent on time, review vendor bills and expense distributions, verify compliance, and assist with negotiating vendor contracts. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with Project Managers, Consultants, and Clients to verify project data accuracy, support project setup, budgeting, documentation, and insurance certificate management, track project financial performance, and improve financial results and forecast revenue.

ResponsibilitiesSupport general ledger operations and assist with monthly and annual financial close processes.Perform account reconciliations and prepare financial reports including project-specific summaries, weekly updates, and monthly statements.Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and uphold internal control standards.Manage client billing procedures, ensuring invoices are accurate and sent on time.Review vendor bills and expense distributions, verify compliance, and assist with negotiating vendor contracts.Collaborate with Project Managers, Consultants, and Clients to verify project data accuracy and ensure proper input into accounting systems.Support project setup, budgeting, documentation, and insurance certificate management.Track project financial performance, including profitability, budget vs. actuals, and work-in-progress (WIP) schedules.Partner with Project Managers to improve financial results and forecast revenue.Draft and review contracts, assignments, and other project-related agreements.Lead the contract process, provide guidance to stakeholders, and offer negotiation support when needed.Maintain and reconcile records of fixed assets.Essential SkillsProficiency in accounting and project billing.Experience in finance or accounting.Senior Accountant experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsFinance or Accounting degree preferred.Architecture industry experience would be a plus.Job costing experience.Work Environment

The work environment is lively and energetic, fostering a great team atmosphere where team members are supportive of each other. The firm consists of approximately 100 people, with an accounting team of three and a half members. The Senior Accountant will report to a principal once the CFO retires. This role requires working three days in the office, with mandatory attendance on Mondays and Wednesdays. The team uses the ERP system Ujara.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
