Our client in the nonprofit industry is seeking a strong senior accountant on a full-time basis. They have more than doubled in size since 2020 and continue to grow!
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the financial health of the organization through oversight of general ledger activities, month-end close, and financial reporting. This role will support the finance team in ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant reporting, while also supporting grant reporting and budget tracking. Experience in nonprofit accounting and Sage Intacct is required.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end close.Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports.Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly recorded in Sage Intacct.Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasting models.Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds in compliance with donor and grantor requirements.Support annual audit and 990 preparation by compiling documentation and liaising with external auditors.Reconcile accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and other balance sheet accounts.Collaborate with program managers to provide financial insights on spending and budget performance.Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to internal controls documentation.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA-track preferred).4+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a nonprofit setting.Strong proficiency with Sage Intacct (highly preferred).Experience with grant tracking, fund accounting, and donor restrictions.High attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote/hybrid team environment.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Excel and reporting tools prefered (e.g., Power BI, Martus, etc.).Experience supporting federal grant reporting (e.g., Uniform Guidance).Compensation & Benefits
