What You’ll Be DoingThe Senior Accountant is a key contributor to ensuring the financial accuracy and integrity of the organization. This role is responsible for analyzing transactions, improving processes, supporting strategic financial decisions, and driving high-quality financial reporting and account reconciliations. The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative across functions, and eager to identify and implement improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
This position plays a critical role in the accuracy of key processes, including sales tax compliance and debt accounting.

Responsibilities General Accounting & Month-End CloseOwns preparation of key journal entries and associated account reconciliationsAnalyzes financial statements, identifies variances or unusual trends, and escalate significant findings as neededSupports monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and audit readinessLeads and mentors junior accounting staff; reviews their work for completeness and accuracyAssists with the preparation and validation of financial data in reporting systems (e.g., OneStream, Oracle HFM)Cross-trains on bank reconciliations and supports monthly account reviews and discrepancy resolutionDebt Reporting & ReconciliationMaintains and reconciles detailed debt schedules, including tracking of interest and principal paymentsPrepares related journal entries for debt, interest accruals, and necessary financial adjustmentsSales Tax Preparation & ReportingOwns the preparation and filing of multi-state sales and use tax returnsGenerates monthly sales tax reports using the ERP system; calculates taxable revenue by state in ExcelPartners with the Tax team to investigate discrepancies and ensures compliance across jurisdictionsMaintains compliance with internal controls and upholds company policies and accounting proceduresCollaborates professionally with internal stakeholders and external partners, maintaining a high level of service and integrityCompletes tasks with accuracy, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvementOther related job duties as assigned Qualifications Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Self-motivated, adaptive learner with a strong sense of ownershipProven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentHigh attention to detail and strong critical thinking and problem-solving skillsDemonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional teamAdvanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, IF formulas, Power Pivot; VBA/Macros a plusIn-depth knowledge of multi-state sales tax complianceStrong foundation in debt accounting and general ledger reconciliation processesFamiliarity with ASC 842 (Leases) and ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) strongly preferred What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Minimum of four (4) years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger and financial reporting responsibilitiesDirect experience with sales tax, debt schedules, and bank reconciliationsExperience in large or private equity-backed companies ($100M+ revenue) highly desirableExperience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, NetSuite)Previous experience in HVAC Industry or other service business preferred Physical Requirements Ability to work in an office environment consistently, with a hybrid 3/2 schedule (three days onsite, two days remote per week), subject to management discretion and business needsContinuously able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, telephone, and computer printerContinuously able to sit at a computer for up to 8 hoursAble to alternate between sitting and standing, as needed throughout the dayOccasionally able to lift up to 15 Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talkingOccasionally requires walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouchingRarely requires climbingAbility to travel on occasion
