Senior Access Care Representative
Position OverviewUnited Health Services (UHS) is seeking a skilled Senior Access Care Representative to join our outpatient team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring a smooth and efficient patient registration process, managing insurance verifications, and coordinating prior authorizations. Your expertise will help patients navigate their appointments with confidence, while supporting clinical teams with accurate and timely information.

$17.98 - $25.17 per hour, depending on experience

Job Responsibilities:

Complete registration fields for all outpatient patients who are to be pre-registered; handle walk-in and add-on outpatient appointment registrations.

Update and maintain the outpatient census and scheduling boards according to clinical staff requests.

Assist with scheduling outpatient appointments as needed, ensuring all required registration and insurance information is accurately completed.

Document all communications with insurance carriers, clinical staff, and patients in Soarian Financials, including demographic updates and precertification results.

Contact physicians’ offices or patients to resolve prior authorization issues and obtain missing information related to outpatient services.

Assign health plans accurately to outpatient encounters and verify that all applicable insurance plans are linked appropriately.

Perform electronic eligibility verification for outpatient services and document findings thoroughly.

Complete Medicare Secondary Payor Questionnaires when applicable and retain in outpatient records.

Contact outpatient patients, preferably 48 hours before the appointment, to confirm scheduling, collect missing demographic data, and provide directions for their visit.

Calculate patient cost shares for outpatient services, collect payments via phone or in-person, and arrange payment plans as necessary.

Collaborate with the Financial Advocacy Team to assist uninsured outpatient patients with financial resources and payment options.

Research insurance claim denials for outpatient encounters, review denial codes to identify causes, update records accordingly, and support efforts to reprocess claims for payment.

Maintain current knowledge of insurance payers relevant to outpatient services, including managed care, government programs, commercial insurers, and workers’ compensation.

Serve as a resource to outpatient staff for questions and issue resolution; plan and conduct training sessions to support ongoing education for self and team members.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent, with two (2) years experience in similar field

Preferred:

Associate’s Degree, or 5 years equivalent experience in lieu of degree

Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA)
